when did nvidia make 7950 GTX for desktops???

id like to know that aswell. All i can find is 7900GTX or 7950 GX2

You can get an 8600GT for as low as R1k

Also dont be shy to buy second hand DX9 cards or anything else for that matter. Sure they wont run DX10 games but theres till nothing wrong with them and they still perform nicely. I think though, but i may be wrong, is that you can still play dx10 games but it will run at dx9.

Not such a bad sacrifice for the price IMO

Ok, you can run the RAM at 800 or whatever but the CPU FSB still remains 1066 and the dual channel RAM @ 533 will give a 1066 like throughput.

Were you thinking about ATI with their onboard memory controllers? Then the CPU controls the memory, hence the reason they needed a whole new line of chips (AM2) to run DDR2.
