I had a bad motorcycle accident 3 years back.

The tibia never healed properly and left me with a right leg about 1.5cm shorter than the left.

I learnt to walk on the fibula but this was extremely painful and I have had a rather ****ty 3 years.

I went from surgeon to surgeon to try and rectify the problem and finally found a doctor in Sunninghill prepared to fix it.

They put on a Taylor Spatial Frame.

I have adjusted the leg daily for 3 weeks and the deformity is gone. It looks like the bone is growing together now.

Has anyone ever had anything like this?

A few pics for those interested

My mother-in-law had a similar device fitted to reconnect her fibula. Came off about a year ago and she's walking fine now. That thing is ****ing expensive!!!!

Egad, some kind of blood warning on those pics would have been nice :( That aside, looks like it was quite a big op! Glad you're healing well.

I have seen this done before. The extension treatment I mean what you had.

It's farking horrible that they made you suffer for 3 years before getting it done. Some doctors ... I just don't know.

Is that a piece of metal going right into your foot?
iirc it is titanium and it goes through the bone.

Friend of mine had similar.

Also came out perfectly normal afterwards :)

I knew a kid at school who had this done as he was born with one leg a little shorter than the other. He used to wear those funny sole shoes. After this and being in a wheel chair for a few months his leg was perfect and no more weird sole. His greatest dream was to play rugby. That dream came true soon after the fact.

Wow that looks unpleasant.

But it's amazing what doctors have figured out how to fix!

Yeah - the heel pin. Keeps me from being able to move the foot and break any healing going on.

There are a total of 16 spikes and pins going into or through the leg.

The pain is quite something.

Thanks for all the stories.

Makes me feel a lot more positive about it all
