My router is being DOS attacked

My family uses the wifi as well. It's only 3 phones plus my laptop and TV connected

@terrificFrogg This is the setting you're looking for, usually, its in the same area you manage the admin password from:

unfortunately my setttings don't look like that. My router can't update to the latest firmware. @AfriNatic assisted with updating but the router cried "File too large"

As others have suggested, I will replace my router immediately. Thank you all very much for taking your time to review my issue. Your insight is appreciated.

I will replace my router, switch on firewall and ensure that the management account is not accessible on WAN side.

I'll also use a VM in certain cases just to be safe as @The_Librarian suggested

Well no harm in it if you're at peace with that then.
What was the model number of your D-Link, out of interest?

If you disable DHCP on it, it could still work as a WiFi AP or switch somewhere else around the house.
