My router is not assigning IP address :(

Hi guys,
I have a Telkom Wi Fi router(dont know model number... the one that stands up right).... I have been using it for a few years now and it looks like it is up to k@k :eek:

It started a few weeks ago and is getting worse... It stops assigning IP addresses(every now and then) to anything plugged in via Ethernet (xbox,PC,ps3) but WiFi still works 100%.... It fixes itself sometimes over time.

What could the reason be and how can I stop/fix it? address
 
Ok so DHCP isn't working too well.. or you have a PC on the network set at the same IP as the DHCP servers.
Typically that will happen if you share any alternative internet connectios, specifically on Windows at 192.168.0.1
is hardwired and will clash with a route on the same network address.

k... so how do I fix it?
 
Im not to sure if you can get firmware updates for Telkom routers, but If you can it should help.

If your router's address is 10.0.0.2 (like it is with the Telkom Mega 100WR) then just assign IPs in that same range:

Computer 1: 10.0.0.3
Computer 2: 10.0.0.4
Xbox 360: 10.0.0.5

and set the Default Gateway to your router's IP address (10.0.0.2).

Hi guys,
So now my router started this(problem) again so I thought I would try this method ^ out.

I set me stuff to that and I am still not getting it to work... I am using my wifi adapter but I need my LAN ports to work!!

Dude, I just realised that you're changing the settings in your router's page...why?

You need to assign manual IPs on each of the PCs that connect via ethernet. Follow this guide and report back.

Basically, just go into your Network Connections, right click the Network Adapter, Properties and assign the values manually.

Hell yeah, that's never gonna work!
Control Panel --> Network Connections---> Select LAN--->Right Click--->Properties--->Internet Protocl (TCP/IP)--->Properties

*edit* Oh, you already pointed him there :)
 
Your other option is to reset the router. See if your computers gets an IP address, if so then all you have to do is set your router up. PPPOe llc, vpi = 8, vci = 35, username and password.
