S6 & S4 - weak signal where a R599 Alcatel One Touch POP2 works well. Poor battery life.
S3 Mini - puts calls on hold all by itself. Audio fades in & out during calls. Cuts or auto rejects calls when not set to. it sends SMS's when not asked to (sent 18 to a friend recuperating in intensive care!!) and depletes internet data. Updated apps while all settings for auto-updates have been disabled. UI behaves erratic and seems to 'move about' while nobody is even toughing the phone.
S3 - terrible battery life, build quality, same as S3 Mini, is rather iffy. Software issues abound.
J1 Duos - poor battery life, audio fades in & out during voice calls, or auto rejects calls even with feature disabled. Apparently know issue on J1 Duos, a technician said this model is being discontinued. I do like the phone's appearance and also the feel of it in my hand.
Galaxy Pocket - a sterling little device at the price, provided it is being used as a basic feature phone. The only truly functional Samsung ever in my hands.
Compared to the Alcatel as mentioned, as well as BB Z3 and Huawei Y300, really bad stuff. It seems that cheap is not always nasty. The Alcatel is blazing fast on Afrihost mobile data, for the record, and it acts well as a USB modem or wireless hotspot. The Alcatel beats all the phones mentioned above when it comes to connectivity, be it voice or data. the cheap Alcatel feels terrible in the hand but voice quality during calls even betters any of the Samsung's above, despite it not being able to filter out noise from the environment.
Just posted as a matter of interest. Next phone maybe a Huawei P8 Lite, as all I need is >1GB RAM. Galaxy J5 if someone can convince me it is trouble-free. The concept is great.
