Hi guys,
I just got my new PC and I cant get any sound to come out .. I am using 2 little usb powered speakers... they work on my other PC but cant get any sound on mine ... they have USB for power and then a green wire/input for sound

The headphone jack in front is also not working with them... at the back of PC there is the following setup(inputs):

<pink,green,blue>

[orange,black X2, green, pink,blue]

I have tried all inputs but no luck

Please help
Thanks

PS: My ear-phones also dont work

Right click on 'My Computer', go down to 'Properties', click on the tab 'Hardware' and then on the button 'Device Manager'. You will see a list of all the hardware of the PC. Do you see yellow exclamation marks infront of the some hardware?

Describe what you see.

Open volume control and check that mute is disabled. Also check you have installed audio codecs for the sound card. If ur not sure, open device manager, right click on my computer > manage > device manager and check to see if your sound card appears and check if the audio codecs are there.

k I have found that my sound card has no drivers installed... where would I get them from? I dont know what make the sound card is nore do I have a CD with drivers!

well if its a new pc, surely u were provided with cd's? check which motherboard u have and then u can download drivers from the manufacturers website. But if its a brand new pc, then u should have a cd or dvd with the mobo drivers.

well it MY new PC.. bought it from someone! I have the MoBo drivers though... will those help this?

If the mobo has a built-in sound card then the mobo drivers should contain the sound drivers.

How do I tell if the sound card is built in?

There is a "thing" under my graphics card that has sound inputs
and there is 3 inputs for sound next to my USB, Ethernet slots at the back

Check to see if the 3 sound inputs are integrated into the motherboard or if it is a separate card. If u have a separate card that provides u the 3 sound inputs then its not integrated into the motherboard. However if the 3 sound inputs at the back I/O ports are coming directly from the motherboard then the sound card is integrated into the motherboard and all you need to do is install the motherboard drivers.

k just checked( such a mission cause of my CPU cooler)!
It seems to be part of the mobo!
So if I re-install my mobo drivers will I loose any stuff on HDD? Will I have to re-install my os? Will I have to re-install my graphics card drivers?

Thanks

No you will not loose anythingon ur HDD and u will not have to re-install ur os or gfx drivers. Just pop the motherboard cd/dvd in and launch the setup. It will install all the necessary drivers for your motherboard including the sound card drivers.

Sure :) let me know how it goes, also dont forget to check that mute is disabled in the volume control. That could also be a reason, so just check that.

installed the driver... now when I plug in the speakers it says they are in.. and it registers on the PC... but still no sound! I checked in the right hand corner and it is not on mute!

Any other ideas?
