Hey everyone! I have a 20MB line which syncs usually at 16-18MB's. I've had the 20MB line ever since Telkom introduced the offer and I've had no issues whatsoever until August 2018.

In August 2018, my line would repeatedly DC every 5 minutes. I initially thought it was an MWEB issue and have checked to see if there was a fault on their side. MWEB informed me that the issue was a Telkom one and that I should try a prepaid account from another ISP to confirm the problem. I've tried 3 various ISP's and yet the DC issue continues.

In December 2018 I had my entire line replaced along with my router and filters swapped out. I've also had guys from Cables come in to test the line and everything appears to be fine on "paper". I live just over 900 meters from the exchange. The exchange has been recently upgraded and I was told that I have been moved to a new "port".

To date, my line syncs at 17mb, however every night I DC repeatedly and wind up syncing at 1.6MB. Technicians have come and gone as well as repeatedly checked my line to no avail. I have a neighbor with a 20MB line who's problem free.

Does anyone know of a way to escalate my problem and whom to contact? I feel like I am playing Russian Roulette when dialing 10210.

Having the same problem at present. We'll something similar. Last night I noticed my speeds had dropped to 1.5mbps on a 20mbps line. Phoned 10210 and the guy did something and then I completely got disconnected. No sync, no connection no nothing.

Logged a fault last night. This morning got an sms to say fault has been restored. But that was not the case. So had to phone in again to have it re logged again.

Bit frustrating now

Your problem sounds like something a semi motivated person will need to solve.
This since the problem only occurs at some random time.
When persons cannot see the problem it becomes more difficult to solve.
This will be challenge since most of Telkom`s staff is either not motivated or not qualified to perform their work. {Assuming it is Telkom`s responsibility should you pay Telkom for the DSL connection}

Moving forward as best one can. Quite a few questions if you could please:
a. When was your line first installed and show us the location of the exchange please?
b. Who do you pay for the voice line rental {assume Telkom}?
c. Who do you pay for the 20Mb DSL connection {ISP Mweb or Telkom}?
e. Your data ISP is MWEB, what ISPs did you test with on the prepaid accounts?
f. How much data do you use per month +-?
g. What router model do you use?
h. Do you have a single line installed in the property to a single point? {Alternatives could be, multiple lines, or single line with some other extensions in property to different rooms.}
i. How often and when do you use the phone line this DSL is installed on? {If other lines are used do you use these for voice at what times}
j. Since when do you have these issues {you stated 2018.08}?
k. At what interval does this happen {every day 100% of the time, or, some days and usually at what time on these days}?
l. If you made it to this question, we need the DSL line stats please.
SNR and attenuation with line speeds as per router DSL stats.
i. When DSL line works.
ii. Near times when it fails.
