Hi folks

Here are the traffic stats for June. MyADSL continues to grow at a rapid rate (around 800% since December 2004), and it is not surprising that the broadband providers, media etc. are increasingly interested in what we are doing here…

Month: Jun 2005
Unique Visitors: 83587
Pages: 2682072 (2.68 million)
Hits: 8114021 (8.11 million)
Bandwidth: 27.45 GB

The Bandwidth usage and Pages are somewhat misleading. Since the ad server is also on the same domain the actual web Pages served is lower. The Bandwidth usage for the server is also significantly higher. During June the traffic used on the server was: 42,980.89 MB. This includes all traffic, including mail, forum subscriptions etc.

Thanks to everybody for their continual support of MyADSL and for making this such a great place to hang around! Without your involvement this site would not have been here!

Regards,

RPM

wrong way around...
thank YOU, rpm, for MyADSL, and for having us hang here :)

this is great ... thanx rpm for a great forum :) ... lets hope it continues to grow and eventually realise our dream of free/cheap broadband :D

Well, here's where Telkom messes things up again. Due to your IP not being fixed on adsl, each time you come back, you might register as a "unique visitor", unless someone else was assigned your ip at some stage during the month and came to MyADSL. Some applies to dial-up as well, obviously.

DVDA, there's a difference between unique visitors, page impressions and page hits. I suggest you go read up on how these things work...

even though the IP's change, dont cookies also have a roll to play?

in any case, the important thing is that there were 80 000 unique visits, which is possibly more than the total number of ADSL subscribers. Damn. Just how pitiful are Telkom services???

Let's hear it for RPM and MyADSL! I tell everyone I meet of this site, the more people realise how Telscum is fleecing us, the better. Keep up the good work!

Well done to RPM et al.

Now that I think about it...being on the stock market isn't such a bad idea..maybe our stock price will follow our forum growth :D

im serious... i'd like to buy myadsl please
I am just waiting for Shuttleworth to put in his bid :D

Thanks for all the kind words from you guys regarding MyADSL & its traffic. I think MyADSL’s success lies in the facts that it is a site governed by its members and that it is not for profit. True democracy I guess :D

RPM

Can we not try and get hold of Shuttleworth, maybe he can fund some of the activities ?

Another thuoght, can't these stats released as a monthly press report or some such thing to the media along with the summary of some of the "hot" topics discussed during the month ?

Great and congrats
Slightly, but not entirely [OT], so forgive me, but refering to rpm's call for experts in certain areas to represent MyAdsl and coupling this with MyAdsl's monthly traffic and membership, is there not a great oppertunity for an airline sponsorship.
I mean if there is a hearing in DBN for instance that rpm wants to/needs to attend, but cant, due to a transport costs, would it not be great to have the means to attend importnat meetings via an airline sponsorship.
Probably only looking at maybe 6 tickets a year at most, and with the traffic here, a company with Kulula's profile and image of cost saving might fit in nicely and they will get a lot of mileage for their money imho.
Kulula banner with specials etc. Just a thought.
