Hi folks

If you in the central JHB region be sure to drive past the Star Graffiti wall (cnr. Of Jan Smuts Avenue and Empire Rd.). You might notice a rather visible web address on the wall :D If anybody can take a picture of it and mail it to me it will be great.

You might notice that the front page have changed slightly. We thought it is a good idea to have a main article. There is the option of removing the image from the main article…your feedback will be of great value here.

We have a blogsite ready but are uncertain on what to do with it… The main idea is to have a few authors writing on various issues relevant to us…’unofficial news’ so to speak. Your input will be of great value as usual.

Why not make it a true blog site and let anyone who wants a blog have one? Alternatively you could set up a series of columns and scrap the term blogs

How about RSS feeds ?
Possibly even for the forum too - an RSS for "New Posts" ?

One odd thing I've noticed, if I go to the main news page in firefox and click "forum" it opens it up in another tab, which is fine, but it opens it up without any login ?
IOW, I would have to login again. Hard to explain, but if I go back to the original TAB and hit the back button to return to the forums, I'm logged in.
Check it out yourself to see what I mean :-

Login to the forum. Go to the main forum index and click on "MyADSL Main Site" then click on the Forums link.

I think you need to stop it from opening in a new window RPM ? - possibly that will fix it. You have a target="_blank" on that link, it shouldn't even have a target on it ?

"The feeds are currently provided in two formats, RSS and RSS v2. The differences are as follows:

RSS 0.91 - This feed is based on a standard written by netscape and provides a link and the title of the thread.

RSS 2.0 - This feed contains title, author, date and the contents of the first post of the thread.

To add this to MyYahoo click here.

The forums to which this applies can also be limited to specific guest viewable forums by adding another paramater to the URL containing the forumids as follows:
http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/external.php?type=rss2&forumids=123

If you would like the content to be generated for multiple forums you can seperate the forumids by commas."
 
Ah - ok - firefox has a little RSS icon that appears in the bottom right hand corner when a site is RSS enabled, you just click on it and bookmark the live page.

Is it possible to do that with MyADSL ?

AFAIK, that RSS icon in Firefox is enabled with a meta tag in <head>, so it should be as simple as adding keywords for search engines...

PS: Have a look at the announcements for the Vodacom & iBurst forums - the forum RSS Feed links are there :).

Could be wrong but I think its because the forum link on the home page is missing the trailing '/' As it stands http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb redirects you to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/ - hence the need for another login - if the '/' is added it should fix this. IOW it should be http://www.mybroadband.co.za/vb/

Mine does not do this. When i goto the forum from the main site I am logged in or am I missing something here...

Me too. I use the "Open in a new tab" function in FireFox.
 
I just have a custom startup page with direct links to various forums and the 'new posts' page.
 
I just put all my frequent links on the bar bellow the address bar - then Ctl-T and click button :)

Just one thing - could it be changed so that when we click on other polls ith listts the newest first - its a bit irritating :)
