Hi folks

I am glad to inform you that MyADSL is continuing to grow in traffic. As you might know I can not get log files on MyADSL since it interferes with the forum software, but based on our news section there was another 14% growth over the last month. The page views since February this year (for the news section only!) is as follows:

February: 13938
March: 26302
April: 22402
May: 27756
June: 37812
July: 36464
August: 42390
September: 48215

The last month I have received full access logs was in April, and during this month MyADSL as a whole had more than 1.1 million hits. The news section hits during April was only 22402, and one can therefore assume that the hits for the full site has also increased. Whether it has increased at the same rate as the news section is doubtful, but it does give an indication of the growth… The bandwidth usage for MyBroadband (where the news section, speed tests etc. are hosted) has also increased sharply over the last few months: from 622 MB in March to 5.49 GB in September. Luckily we have unlimited bandwidth from Afrihost (we are currently negotiating moving MyADSL back to SA…more news on that soon!).

That's good news, RPM - like I said elsewhere in another post, MyADSL is destined to be the nub of a core facility for consumer activism in ZA. At some stage or the other, consumer activism will take its rightful place as a societal force to be reckoned with, particularly once a common forum is launched. As a start, reciprocal links to sites like hellopeter and the <i>nose</i>Week guys would really be useful. At the end of the day, the powers-that-be and criminal corporates would tread very carefully...
/aside: sorry if I've hijacked the thread - I just had to rant a little...

This suggests almost a possible 2.4 million hits for September? Eish.

Perhaps the higher usage is attributable to the files that are up for download like the Carte Blanche Video.
Or perhaps my 2.4 million estimate is too low. Either way MyADSL has become known by the internet users of SA, in a very significant way.

I can generate these from the DB. I think it will be a linear growth similar to the hits, but it will be good to confirm this. As soon as I have some extra time I will do the Maths :-)
