4gb is a little min these days. I see when playing BF3 my mem usage easily goes over 5gb. But ram is cheap

How is Zones there in DBN? I hear they sell things bliksem cheap or maybe go with Esquire. They have specials on CPU's/RAM/ motherboards at the moment

box and all excluding graphic's card,but my current GFX is fine for now
yeah ram is cheap and you addon with the order.
 
I don't really trust those prebuilt specials. They may come with a h61 motherboard and so even if it has a 2500K, you can't OC

What can you keep from the old pc?
 
nothing more than the PSU,GFX and maybe the case depending on the replacement board.

the cpu was a Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 if I am not mistaken in a intel LGA775 socket board,
memory 4x DDR2 1 gig sticks

Yes you can, you will get stuff at much better prices. Have a look at that link I put up, they are way cheaper than retail shops and you can collect at the esquire express shop in DBN. I think they're even open on Friday

Only heard bad things about Zones. Mate's prebuilt PC didn't have the spec ram it was stated to have, other mate's external HDD died 3 weeks after use, got replaced and proceeded to die again.

Touch wood I haven't had any issue with Zones other than there customer service. but esquire is look good price wise. Just need to find a case.
 
I know Esquire sell Antec cases, the cheap ones are a bit boring. They also sell Aerocool, very plastic but some are not too bad.
 
Was looking at the new ivy brdige, but i see they say no real benifits from the i5-2500k. But there is always a sucker out there that will buy my rig.:D
 
If you have the 2500K, then its not worth it at all. But my Q9400 is getting on in the years and needs replacing.

Maybe it will help me aim better in BF3 :D

Talking of which. I will be on nice and early practicing on our server, we need small scale practice for tonights match not massive 64p action.

It's that they are on every corner. Nearly as bad as the ones trying to give you free passport holders or lighters.
