any reviews and epic comments from the guys who managed to activate early :} ???
My comment would be something along the line of: OMFG I can't stop thinking about this game ever since I've played a few hours last night!!!!
Bottomline: If you even remotely enjoyed the Beta the final release is going to absolutely blow you away.
The game is so much more polished, even the the SP (which tend to look the best since they've obviously focused a bit more on the map design, cinematics etc.) had a bunch of moments where I literally sat in awe at what they've accomplished here, not to mention that frame rates on my 6870 were rock solid, whether I'm running down a hallway punching bullet holes in cubicles to see the office debris fly or crawling around outside in the glorious sunlight with the world collapsing around me.
The sound design alone is worthy of a GOTY badge. I've never seen or heard something as good as this, and yes, it makes even the brilliant sound design from BC2 sound crappy (TIP: Please use a decent pair of headphones, speakers don't cut it). It's a complete phuckfest of crisp sound as all the bullets and debris meets different types of surfaces, none of which feels plastered on or scripted. Even the ambiance on quieter level are done really well.
Sparks look realistic, explosions and the subsequent smoke and debris field almost has you gasping for breath as you try and light up the silhouettes of enemies with led. The guns are so well rounded off that you immediately choose your favorites, not because of how awesome they look, but because of how they feel and sound.
Yes, you're not going to get an engaging SP storyline here. You're also not going to see the Frostbite engine flex its muscles that often during the MP as it does in the SP, but hey, let's leave the storytelling to people like Valve, we're talking about BF here
I know most people are just going to focus on the MP. But do yourself a favor, if you can squeeze out a few mins here and there, play the SP so you can see what the Frostbite engine is really about. There's a specific scene not too far into the game where they start you out on a US carrier ship and you have to fly co-pilot on a jet. That entire thing had me in goosebumps all the way through. You can even see the water on the tarmac evaporate as the wind blows over it. The only thing I could think about is how badly I want 3 27" screens so I can be a complete showoff when friends come over.
At R350 this game is without doubt the best value for money since the release of the HL2 Orange Box. This game is going to be played online for years to come.
Finally a game that makes you feel like post console next-gen is here when you own a PC while still allowing console players to get into the action.
Good work EA and DICE... You hyped the crap out of this game and I can honestly say the final release has by far exceeded the hype for me.
There are some games where you have to read some reviews and comments before you buy, this isn't one of those games. Get the damn thing, cancel each and every plan you have for the weekend, and prepare your senses for an onslaught of FPS perfection the world has never seen. I am now officially a BF3/Frostbite 2 "fanboy", and I have the dog tags to prove it.
I AM IN LOVE. KILL.
