My calculator gave me the result in scientific notation
At its worst it was over 35, its now below 30. I'm down more than 20kgs.

I'm the first to be diagnosed so we don't know. One the problems is blood tests can only pick it up at the time of the attack as they measure the amount of enzymes in your blood. But like everything, self diagnoses on the interwebs is dangerous. In my case a lot of my symptoms are found on the "Are you diabetic" check list but in the mean time it was caused by my pancreas (related) and cholesterol (unrelated).

so what are the warning signs? blood in stools? things like that...
I mean in your case it took a while and only when you nearly died did you go to the DOC
how would somebody know for sure, without going to the doc and getting it misdiagnosed as diabetic.....

Delay in responding but been a bit busy.
Warning signs: your health goes for a ball of stool. Like a lot of things we often use the internet to diagnose our health and don't always use authoritative sites like MayoClinic (yes, I did not know they are the authoritative source).
The danger with pancreatitis is that it can only be diagnosed at the time of an attack with blood tests. If it can be picked up by sonar and CT scans then you are already in a world of trouble.
Looking back these last two years (Friday will be the 2nd anniversary of my first attack) I realise there was nothing I could have done to have diagnosed either one of my attacks. The only thing that would have delayed the first one was looking after my health much better.
In my case the cause is unknown but I went for a gallbladder removal 4 weeks ago and this will prevent future attacks. I had sludge on my gallbladder which is often impossible to detect making it more dangerous than stones. This in turn triggered the pancreatitis. Now what was causing the sludge was "the unknown" according to two surgeons and one leading specialist in the field who takes special interest to outlier cases.
