Sorry @bwana. Baby needed nappy changed and then toddler wanted lunch and and and....

Mention worked fine on my side.

Seems generally more stable this afternoon. btw: Top banner adverts not loading (perhaps intermittently), just a sad face there in a grey box.

My oh my. I can see you have no clue what cloudFlare is for. Rather shush or educate yourself.

So to ask the stupid question.

What do you say Cloud Fare is for?

I know nothing about Cloudfare except what I have read in this thread .....

Looking at the CloudFare status report:

Mar 24: DNS issues with CloudFare API. reported/logged - 12:08 UTC; resolved 13.43 UTC
Mar 28: Network related issues in Johannesburg: started at about 08:48 on 27th , resolved 01:41; re-reported Mar 28 - 02:09; reported again at 08:47; resolved 12:54; cleared at 22:43
MAR 29: Network related issues in Johannesburg; reported 01:42; resolved 14:29

Seems whomever is their partner in Johannesburg is not doing something right ......

Their claims of what they do are all quite clear to me after checking out their website.

CDN services
Webpage optimisation
WAF
DDoS protection
A DNS service
plus Apps

Can't see what the confusion is about what they do ....

Has MYBB moved over to Cloudfare recently?

I unfortunately do not have a Before trace route or any other stat to compare performance if this is a new move?

All I can do is compare the results of a trace route to another website I know is located at the same point in JHB.

MYBB shows about 13 - 14 ms, over 8 hops, the other sites shows 34 ms over 15 hops .......

The Cloudflare Jozi POP is run out of Teraco. I don't think it is a Teraco issue as they run a ton of services you use on a daily basis (but are not aware of). Even with the Jozi Cloudflare POP having issues, they have a good 200 POPs worldwide with anycast and a downed POP would just relocate traffic elsewhere. Cloudflare is not the issue as it is redundant. I doubt that the MyBB hosting has that level of redundancy.

Agree, it is not the location facilities, but whomever is supplying them with the links that had/has a problem. Besides the DDoS attack, network link reliability was a major factor. I am very aware of just how much traffic goes through Teraco ----- Was involved indirectly with Teraco from before the site was even a hole in the ground.
I am very sorry that I did not think to keep a copy of the tests I did which showed which links were giving issues last week.

Without those links, attempts to cut over traffic to alternative CloudFare nodes was severely restricted, resulting in some very strange traffic routings, which were not stable either.
