Mybroadband iphone app

I was not aware that there is a mobile version... but I will point out that this is closely related to the area I specialise in. Having said that, I'll add that native applications that need no access to the leveraging of on device processing power are redundant in the extreme. A mobile formatted version that works equally well across all platforms is the 'correct' methodology.

Just think about updates for instance: one update server side vs 1xthenumberofusersoftheapp updates pushed to devices... come on!

Sometimes an opinion is just that: an opinion, like the one every person is entitled to. Other times an opinion is a carefully considered contemplation of the options by an individual skilled in the area... think about it.

I prefer the look and feel that a dedicated app brings to the table - News24 and Supersport being good examples

I kinda agree with what youre saying. The caps and no justification for the claim just got me a little annoyed..

Personally I would rather them activate the Tapatalk thing instead of making a dedicated app.
The negative side is that its a paid app and costs R25 and people might not be willing to pay that.
The positive side is that its a paid app so people are dedicated to keeping it current and working properly.

Another positive is that the app supports Android also so "the other side" like Vegeta can also be happy :D

Ok, so now you have iOS, and Android covered - let's give you the benefit of the doubt and add Blackberry to the 'catered for' pile.... what happens when WinMo7 comes out in a little while? What about Symbian?

As long as you optimise the mobile version for webkit all should be well across most platforms (I know some smartass is going to spend the rest of the day googling for one factoid that he feels can trip me up so emphasis added...)

...beginning to see my point?

Your preference is fine but paying for something inferior, that takes up space on your device, requires updates, takes time to learn and closes (or leaves) the app to open the browser (instead of just an adjacent tab) if you click a link etc. is not better. It is a ballache. This is why people like you don't build these devices. ;)

Supersport is an exception as the displaying of sports scores easily could be an application that itself runs on the web page so supplying that app free from the web interface makes a kind of sense.

fwiw, setting up tapatalk is a doddle. Just did it on my vb4 forums after balking for awhile. Took all of 5 mins.
And tapatalk is available for android too.

The iPad shows the mobile site and it looks hideous. The screen is big enough for the 'normal' site but I can't find a way to make it display that.

*ugh*

The Tapatalk app works on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Nokia.

It costs nothing to enable the forum for the app, so there will be no work (or risk) on the side of the Forum. Then RPM can put effort into the mobile site for those who want it.

Yeah, I have to agree, the mobile site of MYBB is fugly on an iPad - looks very basic, too basic, looks like a word processor document. Will forward to RPM, and hopefully he can re-arrange.

Well that was fast, I have just gone onto my iPad, and logged into MYBB, and it now displays just like a regular browser, fantastic, thanks RPM. :D :D :D :D

In that case: great solution!

But this != iOS app... which was my point to begin with ;)

The past week or two whenever I open a thread with embedded images the app closes. Anyone else?

The iPhone app (mybroadband) works fine and so does the mobile site on my iPhone!

If the apps keeps crashing just do a close and restart.

Tried reinstalling and still the same. Closes when threads with images are opened. Was fine the past year.

boimetrics, next time, please open a new thread with a new more specific topic instead of necro'ing an old one.
thanks.

Well I thought it was appropriate since the thread is titled "Mybroadband iphone app". And if I started a new one someone would have complained that I should have used the search function ... can't please everyone I guess.

**WARNING:TROLLBAIT**

Do any of you go on the Android Forums to post crap?

Seems like they Androidians are bored of their devices and so they post here or maybe their forum treads are boring...

Sorry but I'm just VERY confused.
