MyBroadband problems: your help needed

Hi there

Over the last week MyBroadband experienced some downtime caused by DB issues. This happened in short spurts throughout the day. We believe we found the cause of the problems, and resolved it. However, we are concerned that we may not have caught everything.

Your help needed: If you experience any problem (database errors, double posts) please let us know in this thread.

What the problem was: Spammers registered multiple accounts, and then created groups in which they posted thousands of spam messages over a very short period (all automated). This caused some DB issues. Groups are not closely watched, so it was not picked up immediately.

One thing I have noticed is the "Today's Posts" pages vary between 50 and 100 posts, so when I do a refresh sometimes it only shows the latest 50 posts sometimes it shows the latest 100.

This will stabilize at 75.

Not related to the recent DB issues, but in the bottom right of the site sits a dormant survey element which is more of a nuisance to me and probably others than anything else.

RPM .. wile you are working on the DB thing, have a look at the search thing as well please. I am using FF and the full screen dark template. If i right click in the search field i get a very long list of stuff, not the usual past menu. In IE it is fine

Is there any reason why can only see 3 or 4 pages worth of news/threads? It used to be 6 the other day, for as long as I know.

Anyone else feel that mybb is slow at times?

I have the latest Pro version updated Tuesday 5/11.
