Did you get a sample first? I know I put the forward the request for the Spark/Firewire but I see that it has a small presence on XDA. Well 3 pages compared to the 40+ of the ONDA v972. This is more active, and there were complaints about the wifi on the spark/firewire that might have been fixed with newer firmware. This tablet is just coming out to customers so it is (working but) unproven at the moment.

On the other hand you did move some other stock from Ainol recently, and they have a generally good reputation.

Currently priced at R2850. Is that with/out the discount of R200? Bulk pricing * R$ * 1.14 VAT + local shipping + [customs + shipping ]- this does not leave much margin for you guys.

We did have one as a sample but sold it second hand after testing it out. When we tested there were no issues with the wifi
We chose the Ainol brand as it is the biggest brand in China for tablets and also one of the more reliable brand with regards to software updates and warranty issues.

The current pricing is excluding the R200 discount

We work on a small profit margin to provide customers in SA with good prices which in turn will help our website grow.
We are looking to supply in bulk in the future, once our business has become established. stores etc
As you can see we have only a few products listed on our site but we made it that way to provide excellent customer service.

Having just bought the Crystal 7" I can say that there were a few little niggles on the Ainol, one being the Google Play store, a lot of the stuff says your device isn't compatible, but there were a few roms luckily that allowed it :). Also the external speaker is incredibly soft. Otherwise a pretty good tablet for the price. So just a friendly warning, the google play store might not work fully, you might need to flash a rom to fix it.

Hi Lupus

We thought that had been sorted out with the update from Ainol?
Did you try to update manually?
Also most of the popular apps are supported from when we tested the device (i think we tested the top 10)

Nope it wasn't unfortunately, there was a user who worked with a firmware version still in beta, that he modified and changed the devices fingerprint, flashed that and the compatibility fix and it worked. If only now the speaker was better ;-). Still a pity you guys won't bring in more.

The markup on these tablets are very low so to bring those models in again does not make business sense for us unless we have a bulk order (10 or more)

I see that you are having a few issues with the Tab......Do you want to return it?

Nope don't want to return it :), wife is happy with it, just mentioned a few little niggles I found with it. The only one I couldn't fix is the speaker, the rest can be fixed. Yeah two friends of mine wanted to get the Crystal :-(

I'm really glad I saw this because I've been researching these exact Onda \ Ainol iPad clones for the past couple of days and they actually look like quite the bargain ... severely tempted I must admit.

Just two questions ... Since you mentioned a warranty, what sort of guarantee do you guys offer on the product? If something does go wrong with the tablet who will handle replacement or repair of the tablet?

Thanx!

We handle the replacement and deal with our supplier - we only replace the unit if there was a factory fault.

Tablet will be sent for testing to determine if it is a factory fault - once we get confirmation we replace the tablet if we have stock.

If we don't have stock you will have to wait 2-3 weeks for a replacement from China

For how long is the device covered against factory faults?

Very tempted - quite excruciating in fact ... are you taking orders first, or is a batch already on the way? If so, what is the ETA?

I am already sorta committed to spending around R1200-1400 (novo Venus) to my niece who has been after my Samsung Tab 7 plus. Which is pretty decent, only missing ICS/Jellybean and it could do with a higher res screen for reading PDF files. So the other option is to pass the TAB on and spend R2800 on the Novo Spark instead (losing bluetooth and 3G). Except that I want to learn to develop for Android and may need a mainstream tablet. Which puts the Nexus 10 into the frame. Samsung is also expected to introduce some new tablets so I a in bit of a turmoil deciding what to do.

Pity you sold on the the demo copy, I would have loved to try it out first.
