MySignal has advanced somewhat and now has its own network logon feature.
We needed something a bit more versitile to save logs etc.
Also I have several connections and needed to select which one I want.

Taken from the MySignal.txt file:

NB... The Network section will not work with Win95 or Win98.

1. Initialize Modem.
The modem should self initialize at startup but sometimes it may not do
this and one can manually initialize it.
It does not hurt to initialize it on occasion when struggling to logon.

2. Connections
If you have more than one connection defined you can select which one to
use for MySignal Network logon.

3. Auto Re-Connect
Once the modem is connected to the server and it drops out, this will auto
reconnect the modem. There is no limit on the number of re-connects.

4. AutoStart
If the word AutoStart is added to the shortcut target and a shortcut is added
to the StartUp menu, then the modem will auto dial the server should your
PC restart for some reason.

5. Extensive logging
The modem dialup logging has many more features to see what is happening.

6. Save logs
You can save the modem logon log to any filename.

Does mysignal work with the ethernet cable or usb only ?

I dunno if the original ever worked on ethernet, any tried it ??

Does the signal reader work if the modem in connected to the pc via a router?

MySignal Version 3.3

Well if its any consulation I have probably been having more connecting problems and disconnecting problems than anyone to date.
It is not uncommon for me to sit for 30 to 40 minutes trying to connect without any luck.
Fastcomm even suggested my modem was screwed and I got a new one which helped for about a week or so and my problems were back.
This problem persisted on every computer I tried and all OS's.
As more an more people were having these problems I decided to try and find some sort of fix, if only an improvement.
Granted the problems are probably elsewhere, whether with the driver, the Towers or the Server, who knows ar this stage but as I said before everyone is working on it.
MySignal 3.3 makes a small contribution towards reducing the problem and I've had great success using it now for a while.
I now connect almost everytime and stay connected most of the time.

No longer does the modem get initialized, in fact I keep the port solidly closed - this made a big difference.
The ATS7= command does not work regardless of what you set it too so I dumped that as well, in fact I dumped all commands.
It seems to be hardwired to 60 but in reality it only waits 5 to 10 seconds for the server which is too short in most cases although with todays technology I cannot see why the server cannot answer almost immediately.
I also found the Port Buffer would over run on occasion as this was set to the original value which is used with 56k modems.
Extending this also made a big difference as the commands used are a hell of a lot longer than those of a 56k modem.
With all ports kept closed and a direct RAS call, this carrier wait time seems to last around 20 seconds which 90% of the time is enough to establish a logon.

MySignal.ini file
There is now an ini file which holds various information and the first time you run MySignal 3.3 you will need to enter your Username and Password as I no longer call for that either.

[MySignal.Configs]
ReConnect=True
Used internally with the Auto Re-connect checkbox.

KeepAlive=False
This is new in 3.3 and is used internally with the Keep Alive checkbox.
If checked, the Sentech server will be pinged every 60 seconds with a short ping.
This I found to make a difference in reducing the amount of disconnections when the modem was idle.
If you are going to download a big file you may want to uncheck this although it should not hinder it in anyway.

ReConnectTime=30
This is the time the modem will take before reconnecting after a dropout if ReConnect=True

I found in most cases that when a dropout occured, reconnecting immediately did not work too well and needed a delay before reconnecting. You could experiment with this from 10 to 120 seconds.
Basically what seems to happen when you get a dropout is it takes a while for the server to see that you no longer exist and needs time to "officially" disconnect you else you try and re-logon when it sees you as still logged on when you are not.
Granted one should not have dropouts and if it kills me I will find out the reason - now if I could just get my hands on the server source code [:)]

Several improvements and bug fixes were done with the Ping utility.

Other things I found since using 3.3
My pings are a little better and much more stable.
My downloads are more steady - used to run up/down all the time.
Packetloss is a lot less.
I also used to experience the lockups if it ever stayed on long enough.
I've now been on for 14 hours which is a miracle for me and I have not disabled my HyperThreading either - but that still needs to be proven.

Try it as it might improve your situation like it has mine [;)]

Please reset your modem before installation.

Btw, even my old modem works like a dream now [:)]
