Hi

I need help please, something on my iPhone 3GS is using data & battery power at the rate of knots!
I've tried to disable anything that resembles automatic downloads, notifications etc.
But I continue to use masses of data!

Does anybody perhaps know of an app that will identify the app that is using the data & battery power?

I've tried resetting, etc. and still no luck.

Thanks

It's basically got to do with the way it was activated. It isn't activated properly so it keeps looking for a certificate for notifications. You can try a Cydia app called SAMPrefs, which helps. Also activating with the appropriate SIM card from where it came from.

Thanks for the reply!

However, it is a recent problem, I've had the phone for about 18 months and it is not jailbroken.
Got it brand new with contract upgrade.

I thought it was a Cricket WC app. but even with that uninstalled it is still going strong.
Odd thing is that sent data and received data stay close to each other!?

Well that's odd. You have to turn 3G off in that case. You may want to perform a fresh restore of iOS if the problem persists.

Push notifications. Push email actually usually works fine, at least in my experience.

Time for a battery replacement?

I also keep 3G switched off unless absolutely necessary.

I cant find "SAMprefs on Cydia. Is there a specific source i need to add 1st?

Thanks for all the replies.

Battery seems fine, switched 3G & data off, been on standby for 1 Day & 3 Hours since last full charge and still on 91% battery life.

Just very odd that it started recently, data usage has been fine for 18 months.
I always make a point to deactivate push notifications whenever I install new apps.
Also don't use push email.

Will try refresh as suggested by Synaesthesia.

I've also found that toggling "Data Roaming" on drains the battery, even if you are on your home network. Try enabling 3G but keep data roaming off and see if there is a difference.
