Is there hope for me? thanks guys! i really cant wait to hopefully get mywireless, its like a dream come true!!!

zigy, Chartwell is up and almost complete.
We did have it on test but it still needs some changes which will be done tomorrow (weather permitting), so all going well it will be up and running by the weekend.

Tower range is officially 4-5kms, but some ppl have been able to pick up decent signals from 7kms away...so Zigy you are good to go [8D]

** How can Telkom claim to "Touch Tomorrow" when it can barely touch yesterday?
Because they're a BIG, GREEDY, MONOPOLY intent on keeping South Africa in the stone age. **

Yip - 5k's is spec but that depends whether its down a cliff, up a mountain or on a flat [:D]

The only other possible senario then is that it is somehow broken.

I am a happy chappy [:)]

My replacement modem connected me to the registration page 1st time and after registering I managed to fetch a 28mb file from a portugese website at 30kbs.

I've now picked up a problem that may have been resolved within this forum. I'm running XP with several profiles and when I switch between profiles the modem disconnects.

I've found a reference to PPPoE on the MS website @ http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/using/howto/networking/pppoe.asp which seems to explain how to configure PPPoE on XP. Is PPPoE the solution to this problem and if so is there a local supplier of this cable ?

I've also found that the best spot for the modem is perched up on my curtain rail and naturally 'the boss' is not amused. What antenna or dish can one buy to boost the signal and how does the antenna connect to the modem ?
