anybody know how or if i can go online with my ps2 thru my wireless? want to play socom...

how would you connect normally to net for ps2 for all the online games?

have to have an adaptor thingy, and according to the supplier of ster kinekor's stuff (yes, ster kinekor gets their **** from a local supplier and re-distributes) they dont have it here in south africa because of the lack of bandwidth...

suck my wang.. i've got enough bandwidth to feed 1000 hungry children

mwhahahaaha

ok noone... you have just been commisioned to find us an adapter thingy or to make ster kinkykor start importing the right stuff for us broadband users.... strange? they sell socom like crazy in this country and its only an online game.... how are those people playing online? what thingys do they use? ive even heard of local socom servers....

Ok noone, I have the PS2 broadband network adapter. Picked it up in the UK (where I am currently, land back in Jhb on Sunday). I currently make use of satellite Internet which is likely to have way too much latency for the online gaming to work, but am thinking of moving over to wireless as soon as the fourways tower is switched on.

If you would like to make arrangements to test the broadband adapter with your PS2 and your wireless connection you are more than welcome.

Just drop me a mail.

noone/kbenze,

If you read this before tomorrow afternoon and would like me to pick up a network adapter for you at heathrow (they are around 20-30 pounds) send me an sms on +447906596266.

Even if it cant be used for online gaming there are still some interesting uses - stream video / audio from your PC, download game updates over the net (hopefully) etc.

regards
J

Sweet biatch. Just smsed you

Been almost everywhere and they're like "huh?" so it would be kewl if you could bring me that thingy over yo [:p]

my bandwidth still rapes you all!

hiya noone,

Got your sms and tried my damndest to get you one, seems Heathrow is just as bad as SA. None of Virgin, HMV, Dixons or WH Smiths had the thing.

My offer still stands for you to borrow my one to see if it works and if it is worth trying to get one imported from the uk.

cheers
J

Naw it's kewl dude

Best one here is ProAsm, he could test it? Cause I only program the blerrie things, i don't know HOW they work [:D][:p]

I don't buy anything locally anymore, even my car audio is imported. here noone look at this link ->

http://www.dvdboxoffice.com/?description.asp?z=1&qs=1&class=gme&pid=90025983

Note: Prices are in canadian dollars, on the 27 of Feb it was R4.94 to one canadian dollar.

So the network adapter would work out to round about R376.00, the site says free shipping worldwide, BUT in some circumstances they do charge so just check it out before you buy.

Going to buy me one aswell, dying to see NFS : Underground online ;p

Hope this helps. Cheers.

not good guys..... have a carefull look at the picture in that link... that adapter has 2 input plugs to plug either your dialup or your broadband.... via "phone plugs" . you tell me how we get the signal from our modem to the adapter, coz our modem can only operate via the sentech software on the pc.... we screwed i thinks

One is for a phone jack and the other for UTP (RJ45), if it works like any standard networking interface that fully supports TCP/IP (which it should), you should be able to specify a Gateway and DNS, simply share the Sentech connection on the computer with the modem and make sure they are both plugged into the same hub/switch.

Oh yes, you can't use these adapters to form a direct connection between two PS2's, not that you would want to, but it's nice to know.

Yea, i had the same idea, plus i read up on how you connect the PS2 with ADSL, you can either do it directly or through another nic on your PC (or through a router)

Trouble is, I don't think anyone tried it with this technology before.

Plus, i have like 35 missions to complete with NFSU, so i'll probably be busy for a while before i can compete with you guys online. it would be nice if i could play online with it though, because i like all my racing games online, reason why i have ps2, no crashing of **** :)

Don`t buy from that site, that ps2 network adaptor is for the NTSC machines, the software that comes with won`t work on your pal machine.

You need to buy the europern one, which just has a Broadband connection.

Fair enough playkiller, but my PS2 is modded with a DMS3 chip. Oh yes... I don't care if anyone thinks I pirate, atleast I can play NTSC/UC games :)

But sleep mode is when the chip is off, stealth mode(new chips) is as soon as the game loads to a certain point it turns it self off.

if you run in sleep mode your nstc game won`t load, the dms3 does not have a flash update for stealth mode yet.

from the dms3 site.
** Because Sleep/Stealth Mode disables the chip to hide it, it will only work with original (non-backup) games from the country the console is designated for.

you should really get the pal version of the adaptor and the pal network
enabled games.

playkiller, I don't understand what you are going on about. I never said anything about stealth mode and I sure as hell didnt say I was going to play a copied game online.

Let me clear some things up:

You said the software for the adaptor is NTSC, I would agree as it comes from canada. So logically I would slap it in my PS2 with the modchip and install the software (not really software, more like network settings) this is written to your memory card so you can put your nice little NTSC PS2 network adaptor CD away for safe keeping. These settings arent region specific and the setup application does not detect modchips.

Okay, so now that you DONT need to utilise NTSC again you can now boot up in sleep mode with your original PAL game and play ONLINE. As simple as that really.

noone here are a cool link for info:

playkiller: take it easy.
