Alright, seeing as how there really is no fun in being a MyWireless user, I suggest we perhaps do something that is actually fun, and also something that can help us in determining what exactly is going on.
We all have cars? (well prolly almost all) - Check.
We all have notebooks? (if you don't you can't come [
]) - Check.
We all have MyDraadloos - Check.
We all have 128/256/512 packages? - Check.
We're all allowed to drink beer? (well most) - Check.
We have GPS coords for most of the towers? - Check.
Right, now that we have the basics. I reckon we should organize a Saturday, or Sunday "Wardriving" session, in the Gauteng/JHB area, and go go test some towers.
Meaning, we pick some towers, and go test the speeds at each one, with a few different notebooks, and a few different bandwidth packages. All from the exact same spot, and we test all the different tower sectors too. And we all run the same test.
Inbetween all this, we can reminisce about how we're being screwed by Sentech, drink some beers, and gather some exact data of the various towers. This is of course, something that Sentech's technicians that are "working around the clock to resolve the issue" are doing on a daily basis (right), but I for one would like to establish some patterns, flag the bad towers/sectors, and just generally get a feel for what is going on.
This way, we can EASILY debunk any further statements by Sentech that it's only affecting 1-5% of their userbase. Plus, I wouldn't mind seeing some of the more remote parts of JHB, that I never get around to, and have a few beers.
Anyone game?
