N+ and A+

Oh ok.But thats what i mean,I searched the internet for books using Exam codes or descriptions of Each module and dont get anything. When you refer to book/guide would it be something like this:-

http://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-SQL...0563/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1317207404&sr=8-1

then i just view the CBT nuggets months before writing?
I know im asking alot of questions here but finance is a problem for me, so getting any means possible for me to understand and pass my exams with minimal costs is a must for me.
Paying R25000 for MCITP through CTU/IT intellect is something i cant do.

No problem. Rather search for the actual exam number as the guides then cover the "skills Measured" by Microsoft in the exams. For example, the first exam i would suggest for MCITP would be the Windows 7,Configuring exam.

I would go through the study guide and Nuggets at the same time. Watch the video and then attempt the lab exercise in the book. You could even buy the core pack which is from Microsoft...

http://www.amazon.com/Self-Paced-Tr...85/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1317217989&sr=8-15

Just be careful of these institutions, They are expensive and promise you the world. Unfortunately getting the certification is one thing, Getting a job where you actually use that skill is another all together. A while ago I hired a desktop techie. He was a qualified Cisco engineer with a BTech too but after a year of looking for work he was willing to do anything IT related.

Thank you so much for your help.
Sorry to OP for jaking the thread.

Just go to that link, Prestige Academy is a CompTIA member.
According to that page cti is also accredited yet when I asked my instructor he declined that the actual exams we complete on compTIA books make us compTIA certified.

Not trying to be hostile against you but I just want you be sure as I was under the wrong impression for very long. Best will be to check the actual dates on the certificates the have around campus. Sounds dumb but if they have a certificate for this year they are certified, if it turns out they arn't you atleast have a foot to stand on legally.

Good evening Gents

I understand the last post was 2011 and I hope non of you died in the last 4 years.(xD)

I'm extremely confused.

Let me just start. I almost paid IT-Academy R10k for a bundle package (IT Proffesional) but I think i'm understanding the forums regarding the whole CompTIA (A+N+ etc) as a self study course, and then just write an International exam??

I'm extremely in the dark and would appreciate it if someone can advise or tell me how the did it.

I would like to paste the link to tell you what that course (that i get a certificate?? that doesn't count for nothing???) entitles.

Thanks

Only way a+ and N+ is worth anything is if you have taken the official comptia exams. And even then it's won't mean much. I did these exams about 16 years ago and even then when way less people had them all it did was get me a kan admin position. Left the it tech world after juat 3 years as it just doesn't pay.

okay so the officials Comptia exams can be self studied for instance if i buy this

http://www.takealot.com/comptia-a-certification-all-in-one-exam-guide-8th-edition-exams/PLID34286237

and book a date to write the exam for instance at Prometric (https://www.prometric.com/en-us/Pages/home.aspx)?

And thanks for the advice. ATM i'm gonna go in that field. sorry that it didn't work out.

Jip the best book to get and jip and... You will see.. No money, can buy a house or have a familie... Nice chilled job but no moolah, last I checked a senior tech gets like 200k.

Thank you for the reply,

Man i'm sorry I sound so clueless, in the long run I am planning on doing further studies. If applied this year at Unisa for Information Technology and Business Stream, but in that course i didn't see ANY words close to Comp or MCSA or nothing so ive been in a flat spin every since.

Ill work up to a Network Engineer or programming but for now i just need to get in the game...

So, this is what ill do if you approve, Buy the book, self study, (Unsure about this but), buy a exam voucher to do the comptia test? and take it from there.??

And once again thanks for replying

Actually id buy the Comptia N+ book buy the same author also?

I'm not working in this field, but some of my friends do..i did however research on this since i wanted to do this.

Programming is something very different just to clarify,so let me start

yes u can self study a+ n+ u can buy the books here
http://www.intersoft.co.za/
and then u can write the exams at a test center like pearson vue,my friend has done some of his certifications this way,at different test stations tho,but i will say learn those two,get the certification..then maybe look into a couple more certifications,u can also self study those..just search on mybroadband about networking and what the best certifications are..one thing u can not rely on the a+ n+ like said above u don't want to be stuck in desktop support for ever,so do more certifications.

Self studying is not easy, but it can be done..google is your best friend!
