N3 Speed limit change

Wherever "here" is for you, I wish I was there. I like cold more than this ridiculous heat "here" where I am.

Here = the Arctic ... careful what you wish for. :p

I cannot think of a good reason for this. It is a straight, easy road, so it isn't for safety. They changed it after the road works I believe which just resurfaced existing sections.

There's one good reason that I can think of: that section of the N3 does not have grade-separated interchanges. Guessing that the road planners believed that there's too much of a conflict between traffic on the N3 and traffic trying to enter/leave it. That said, if I remember, it's mainly farm roads with low traffic volume, so it still sounds arbitrary from that perspective (then again, I last drove that road in 2009, not sure how traffic patterns have changed).

Of course, this will become moot when/if the De Beer's road is built.
