Hi guys

My contract is up for renewal and I'm in a bit of a dilemma - should I choose the N73 or the N80?

Can I please have your advise.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I prefer the N80 myself (I'm biased though as I have one myself) but you may like the N73 better. For a brief overview of features, go to Nokia.com and select the two phones for comparison.

You could also read reviews on the two phones if you're unsure.

N80 all the way ;)

Anyone know if either the N73 & N80 have direct to MS Exchange sync (contacts, email, calendar etc.) like the E61?

Should find it in the Installed Apps folder ... Email for Exchange.

Why not compare specs and go from there? Both have compelling featuresets: the N73 has QVGA *now* (instead of waiting for the N95) which aces the N80 and (for me at least) is a slimmer and trimmer device ..but the N80 counters with Wi-Fi, a killer if that's something you need (definitely important to me). So it really does come down to the compromise of features/shape that makes the most sense to *you*

Yes they both do. I have used this already on my nokia 6230:D

You dont seem to know what you want, so why decide on these 2?
Its because its on TV and everyone has one, right?

Lol, no because I love technology and I want the best of the both. I like the thought of having a 3.2 mega camera but also enjoy the slide facility of the N80. I'm aware of some of the features of the N80 but I'm not familiar with the N73.

Better Cam, Better and bigger screen, you can play with the slide of the camera if you want. Lol!:D

Slide facility... Anyhow I suggest the K800!;)

Look, the N73 has a better camera (same megapixel I think) because it uses a Carl Zeiss lens. The N80 has (IMO) a better feature set besides the camera and it's very nice to have the slide feature to prevent accidental calling.

At the end of the day you need to decide what the most relevant phone to you is cryptic. If you're looking for something strong on the camera but without Wifi then the N73. If you want a decent camera and WiFi then the N80 basically.

Thanks AntiThesis, that's all I needed. I always leaned more towards the N80, think I'll get it (through italk on a mycall package)

I compared the N73 and N80 in the shop and the N73 is noticably thinner and probably easier to slip into a tight trouser pocket. At the end of the day the Wifi is what made me go for the N80.

If you have a wirlesss access point connected to iBurst or ADSL you can download stuff directly to the phone without using any airtime.

I chose the N80 because Nokia claims it to be their Flagship Phone. I didn't only go on what they say, the specs and features of the phone is what grabbed me.

I have a wireless access point and the wifi is great to use with the N80.

But then again, as you heard before, it depends on what you like in a phone. If you don't use wifi then that wouldn't be a feature that grabs your attention.:D ;)

Did you make up your mind yet?

I think I'm gonna go with the N73, cos of the better picture quality. As long as there's 3G then the wifi is not really a necessity for me, well as long as I have MyWireless

Thank you guys for your valued opinions :) :) :)

Read the fine print and search a few threads - you can't force an N73 to work in 3G mode, even if you're in a 3G covered area. You have to let the phone decide whether it's operating in 3G or GPRS, and whenever it switches between the two it drops the connection.

If I recall only one person said that they can force 3G on theirs, everybody else with an N73 said that they can't. It doesn't mean that if a phone is 3G capable that you can use it as a 3G data card.

You can however use the N80 as a 3G data card. But then again if you want the N73 then go for it, less people walking around with the same phone as me :p

Mmmm damn just when I thought I made up my mind :( I honestly didn't know that, about 3G, the only reason I would go for the N73 is the friggin lens - man it takes good pics. On the aesthetics side the N80 rules.

My advice is take the N73, This is an IT forum, so wifi for the members here is like gold, from what I see.;)
In terms of the better mobile, N73 is better.

The Zeiss lens is attractive. But are you likely to use the camera all that much? Like I said earlier, if you're looking for a better camera, get the N73. IF not, don't :D

I love my N80, everything about it.

Don't be retarded. Better camera != better mobile. Then again as I said earlier if people like you want to force this phone down everybody's throat, then people like me don't mind less people walking around with our phone :p
