N95 Thread

V12 is now out, and when I plug my phone into the Nokia Software Update program, it still says V10 is the latest for my phone :(

Do you have a source for that information? As far as i know, the latest firmware is v11, and you will not be able to upgrade until there is a specific vodafone version released, or you unbrand your phone.

Mine too. If the firmware update is not available by Thursday I'll take my N95 to Nokia on Friday to update the firmware for me. I'm not going to change my product code.;)

I remember it being in Roeland street when I used to live in CT, but now I think they are in Greenpoint, opposite Bossa Nova.

Two N95's on the way. I dropped the P990 due to SE lack of any further support for the P990, Dang!. Will only look at a P1 when they become available and there is no issues.

Well got my two N95's at last. Now the fun begins.

I have had numerous problems with my N95, 1st thing is while i am talking there is a click and my phone re-boots, when it has finished re-booting and i make another call, nobody can hear me and i have to re-cycle the power and it is ok again. Sometimes the signal drops from full strength to nothing for about 10secs then comes back up again even though i am in the same place. Other times it will just lock-up. Finally the quality of the sound through both the earpiece and loudspeaker have become so distorted that i cannot hear what people are saying. Needless to say i have sent it in for repair which they say will take about 2 weeks but i will be out of the country anyway. Has anyone else had any of these problems? or am i just unlucky, the lady at Ixia told me that there have been many come in for repair

Firmware issues. V11 fixes alot of these problems

What are the disadvantages of changing the product code? It irks me that there are already at least two firmware updates available and I can't get them legitimately for my VLive branded *cough* defaced *cough* phone. I am particularly keen on the assisted GPS in v12 (indoor geotagging on photos.. w00t!).

BTW some software that does not seem to be directly mentioned here:
GooSync syncs your phone with your google calendar.
MGMaps offers GPS assisted mapping from all the major online mapping services.

I changed my product code. I dont give a rats ass what they say, Im paying for it and I dont want theri branding on it. Not that the MTN stuff was intrusive but its the principle.

I might not have bothered doing it except that i was having trouble with the 3g sim card so i was trying everything to get it to work.

I am having the same problem, mine and my business partners they are sand version and does the same things as you have quoted. I am really irritated with the fact that nokia software update does not allow for an update especially now that there is version 12 available. Got them through mtn, i am not prepared to change the code just to upgrade the firmware but if its keeps doing this then i am going to have to resort to some changes.

Does changing the code void the warranty??

Infra red sensitive camera, some good VCAM's have it.Thats good, better than the white LED on some cameras. I want mine NOW!

It's not a IR sensitive camera, it is a privacy - courtesy light, so that you can't video someone without them knowing about this. This is a legal requirement in some regions, as well as the fact that you will ALWAYS hear the shutter sound (even when in silent mode) when taking pictures. The red light is in all FW versions, the shutter sound varies by product code.

YES - according to Andre at MTN (he responds on HelloPeter to MTN complaints).

Hmm ... but if you change it back to your old code - then they can't prove you flashed it :p - they'll just be scratching their heads as to why your phone's firmware is lightyears ahead of anything that might have filtered down to the normal people in SA *grin*

Just updated firmware to V 12.0.013

Wondering if anyone knows how to change the code back to the original vodafone code? thanks

You use the same method as you used before with Nemesis. Just change the code to the code of VodaFone.. (located behind your battery on the phone itself)
You should havve taken note of what the code was before you changed it :)

I am battling to setup my N95 as a bluetooth data modem for my laptop. I use the bluetooth wizard to discover services on the phone, pair them and select all available sevices. When I click the 'Properties' of the reported Dail-up-Networking and Activesync services on the phone, nothing happens.

I select all services in the wizard, but the DUN and Activesync services are not made available. My previous Nokia was installed as a bluetooth modem, but I can't seem to do this with my N95.

I downloaded the modem drivers from the Nokia site (.inf files), but installing the file has no effect. I know PC Suite is supposed to handle this, but using the option in PC Suite just comes back and says the modem is not responding, although the phone is connected and I can browse it's contents/do backups etc. I can connect and browse the internet via GPRS or 3G on the phone itself.

Any ideas on how to fix this?
