N97 Firmware ver 2.0 ( Preview )

It is an N97.....just that the video aspect ratio is stretched and makes the phone look wider. And of course theres a white(yellowish) one that looks a little odd since we dont see any of those on SA.

That N97 doesn't have the Navigation pad on the left of the keyboard.

Looks more like the N97 mini that has been thrown around a bit watch the whole clip if thats an n97 then i'll be damned.

Thought I would try the Vodacare in-shop upgrade option to v11 first like another poster here suggested.

Went to the Centurion Mall Vodashop, but they wanted me to book the phone in and keep it for 24hrs. Is this the normal in-shop upgrade procedure?

Anyone know of a Vodashop in the Pretoria area that will do the upgrade while one waits?

yes..see its working again. Something very confusing in the instructions though..it says "!!!IMPORTANT: Don´t make a backup over the integrated backup-function of your phone before changing the PC (Product Code), because after that nothing will work anymore.!!!"Does not make sense, or is it written in such a way that I miss something? Because I DID make a backup before changing the product code.

Application and info to change the product code is here: http://handphone-solution.blogspot.com/2009/07/change-product-code-use-nemesis-service.html

Product codes for N97 here: http://technician.via.my/2009/07/nokia-n97-rm-505-product-code-listing.html

Think I used this code: 0570817: RM-505_EMEA_EURO_QW1 Black

Hope it helps.....
Even after using this code I STILL cant update??? Anyone know what the problem might be? By the way im check for updates from my phone as the updating software wont work on my pc for some reason.

FOTA (firmware over the air) ain't supported, as yet me thinks.
You can only do it by Nokia Software Updater / Ovi Suite update...

Cheers

That link has the MTN product code in it...and it definately goes to version 12 and it works on the Vodacom network. OTA notification is possible but the actual update has to take place via a PC. Note that some people experience update problems with Vista and Windows 7. At the bottom of that post it advises a "hard reset" (if it doesnt restart) and V12 will be working.

I have used that code and believe me it works. And as Leftfoot says, the update needs to be done via PC.
