hey guys

Where is the best place to buy nacho's? i have only eaten it at spur and enjoyed it.

is it simple to make? and if so, is doritos fine and what cheese will be best

Nacho's

Mugg & Bean's is good IIRC
Harvard Cafe (never had theirs)

Make it. It's super easy - get the nacho chips from woollies. Blend some tomatoes in a blender and put it in a pot an cook it until it thickens. Lay the nachos on a tray, cover it with the cooked tomatoes. Then cover with cheese. Grill it in an oven for 5 mins at 180 degrees. Serve with sour cream and guacamole.

Spur black label just sounds so much easier

Spur nachos are pretty meh. Make your own but don't use a flavoured tortilla chip like doritos.

Btw. There's no apostrophe in nachos.

Dont use Doritos, you get the Specific ones Banditos brand IIRC
If you want home made ill ask my wife for her recipe - not sure prep time but its really great.

Mochacos makes a nice Nachos chicken if you want to try as well

Oh recipe prety easy
Ingredients
Banditos Nachos
Chiken cubed (as small or big as you prefer)
All joy Pasta Sauce
Grated Cheese - she says up to you what type realy up to taste
Guacamole - this is up to you if you want to add it

Cook Chicken in The pasta sauce

Layer Nachos in Dish (oven safe - Pyrex etc) add Chicken pasta Mixture over and (can add another layer of nachos if you want) then add cheese above that - Bake until cheese melts.

Add Guacamole over if you want.

What I do (and yes I use dorito's, but it works):

Blend one onion with two red chillis, two avocados and two tomatos into a pulp.
Spread over nachos (doritos) grate enough cheddar cheese to cover the nachos and then grate mozzarella over.
Bake until the mozzarella and cheddar starts melting.
Serve and enjoy

We normally use Doritos. The Banditos one sounds interesting. Can't recall seeing them anywhere though. Where should I be looking?

-Use Nachos chips, doritos if you have to
- dolops of cream cheese
-dolops Pasta tomato sauce
-Grate normal cheese on top (mozzarella or cheddar or both)
-Grill at high temp (350 deg)

The trick is to cook as quick as possible or the chips get soggy, esp if you use dorito's.

PicknPay

Woolies have their own version... they are just bigger and harder than Dorito's

Pick n pay checkers - Woolies (though i think they have their own brands as well)
Its sometimes in the sweet / Crisp aisle but its also some times in the aisle with the sauces

Cool. Will grab some this weekend. Thanks guys!

Here's a couple of options:

FIRST: use BANDITOS brand (you can choose regular salted or hot chili). if you cannot get the banditos, use the ones from Woolies. Do not use DORITOS.

NACHOS CON QUESO (with cheese): Put the nachos on a large dinner plate and put grated cheese (cheddar is fine) all over. the more cheese, the better. Also feel free to experiment with different cheeses (do not use feta. it will not melt). Put some OREGANUM over and put it on the Microwave for one minute or till cheese is melted.

Guacamole: Get some avos (get from woolies as they are always ripe and ready to use). Mash the avos and add a little lime or lemon juice (lime is better) and salt. Chop some tomatoes in small cubes (in Brunoise as the chefs call it) and add them to the avos. Get some fresh Coriander (aka Dhania or Cilantro) cut the leaves only and chop them small (if the stalks are fresh and tender, chop them too, otherwise leave them). Add them to the avo/tomato mix. Add some dried chilies if you want. Also some fresh pepper. You can add a little garlic if you fancy it.

Mexican Salsa: Get some tomatoes and chop them in small cubes (brunoise). get some coriander, chop it and add it to the tomatoes. Add some salt, Freshly ground pepper, olive oil (not too much) and fresh Lime Juice (or fresh lemon). And mix. THIS IS THE BASIC BASE FOR MEXICAN SALSA. Just like that is great to dip nachos. Kids Love it as is salty, lemony and not hot at all.
You can also add:
Chopped Onions (If you can get SHALLOTS much better)
Chillies (as much as you like and any kind you can get)
Tabasco or any other hot liquid (Instead of Chillies... or both if you are brave enough)
Chopped Garlic
Red/Green Bell Peppers (chopped small)
