Nachos

I've tried it, not a huge fan. Its very plain tomatoey. I like the spur one cause it's spicy and does not taste like normal chopped up tomato. Everything else about spur Nachos is average. Their avo is kinda terrible though, tastes processed.

You sure you bought the right stuff? Because the mild is WAY more spicy than what Spur's "SPICY" is

Try the woolies Mild Salsa, its much better than spur's

Yeah the Woolies Salsa is amazing... I have the MILD and the HOT one.. haven't opened the HOT one yet.. but found the MILD one to be quite spicy.

If you not using it for nachos, you could always buy some packs of Tandoori Naan or Paratha (both available at the shopping centre in the frozen food section).. heat them up in the pan.. lather with some butter.. cut up into pieces, and dip in the salsa.. heavenly!

That actually gives me a brilliant idea..

Buy onion paratha's (sorta like a roti with a spring onion filling)
Heat in pan
add generous covering of salsa
add some jalapenos, or other pizza-ish topping
cover in cheese
grill or microwave
VOILA! awesome easy to make pizza

I lived on Spur's nachos when I worked there some years back. They are pretty good, but NOTHING on Mochachos. The store that I go to doesn't use the corn chips, but instead use fried Parathas. The best nachos I have ever eaten.

Great Recipes here, but a few of you are doing it wrong.
Don't use Dorito's, and never use a microwave.

This is what we did tonight:
Fry a bit of onions, and add your mince. add 1 teaspoon chilli powder, 1/2 salt, 1/2 origanum, 1/2 paprika. (you can also add 2 small chillies finely sliced, and some apricot jam as well, if you want.)
You can also add beans if you want (we didn't though)
Lay the nachos evenly on a tray - don't just dump them, and try not to double stack. Having part of some chips overlay others is fine.
(Basically, don't add 3 layers because the bottom ones will have nothing on them)
Add the mince over the nachos, and then add some finely chopped onion, chopped green pepper, and finely chopped tomato (don't add the seeds, use a strainer to remove any liquid)
You can choose to add chopped jalapeno's now before the cheese, or after it's been in the oven.
Add cheese as desired, half cheddar half mozzarella.
Put in oven on high (preheated, grilling from the top only) and wait 5-10 mins - just eyeball it yourself until the cheese is melted.
Plop some sour cream here and there, and also guacamole. (You can also use salsa if that's your thing)

Don't dump the mince, cheese, sour cream or anything in the middle like a barbarian, try to cover all the chips evenly with all the ingredients (in all stages).
Very tasty and very easy to make!

I don't use sour cream or guacamole though. What sour cream do you use?

I think it was just regular clover sour cream, with Woolies Guacamole.

I will make in a few days and try it without any sour cream or guacamole - just mince + cheese + green peppers, onions, tomato and of course, jalapeno.
