Just read that the rest of my country has been without electricity....

This does not effect my little town, as we have our own direct line and a solid agreement with Eskom...

And I was just thinking to myself that this will be a great opportunity for us to come and join you for a big braai. :D

Yip I think the idiots are under huge pressure to keep their no load-shedding promises in SA with the elections etc.

:p

My little town had our own power station, your Eskom came up her decades and sweet talked us with cheeeeeeep power to shut down our power station that ran on diesel which we shipped directly from Rotterdam!

Always time for a braai, with our without power!

Why has Namibia never developed its own capacity to generate electricity?

We were developing a major gas to power project in my town, that would supply all of Nam's supply and be able to export.... but delay after delay, the price went up and the current gov do not think that we can afford it right now...

In the meantime, there is a Spansih consortium doing the rounds , getting free land from various town's and putting up solar plants...

From a Spar perspective, a large number of the Namibian stores have moved over to solar, this was mentioned at a Western Cape Spar meeting, how the Cape stores could take a page or two out of the Namibian stores...

We also have a small power plant being built somewhere outside of Arandis/Swakop...

From a personal perspective, I think Nam would have also been ripe for a Nuclear plant, we have the stable coast, empty space, uranium and cold water.......

funny. reminds me of a conversation I had with a person recently. He basically said "you know our president is like a child but he was being offered candies by foreigners and he fell for it. He is not a bad person really. "

Namibia is a solar dream , entire towns could go off grid with solar. Or is the cost of solar installation high in Namibia ?

If this was after 1994, joke's on you.
