Napping at work

I used to start work at 9am but found that it means most of my day after work is then wasted. I come in at 7am now and leave around 3:30pm. Works much better because I can do much more after work. Just need to find a way to fit sleep into my schedule since I don't sleep before midnight. Thus a nap is necessary.

My sisters husband sleeps everyday at his office during lunch. Shuts his door, puts his feet up and pushes some ZzZ's. No one has ever said a thing in his 17 years there :D

He is a legend.

Had a guy at my previous job who slept every lunch break - was hilarious the first few times and then got used to it. He use to snore himself awake at times...

The only pain was the fact that it was in an open plan office and couldn't really escape when it got a bit much at times

We have couches set up outside the office. I sometimes go there and grab a nap if I'm particularly tired out. I find 20-30 minutes is optimal and it really does help me make it through sometimes.

I slept once or twice during lunchtime. Sleeping during company time is wrong and a dismissible offense, but sleeping during lunch break is no problem I should think.

Pick n Pay staff are experts at taking naps at work. Often see them lying in the sun in the parking lot fast asleep. Doesn't seen to help their work performance either.

I'll have to find the old resources, but I recall that napping for 10 to 20 minutes does boost energy. It also lowers blood pressure (and helps keep it lower throughout the rest of the day) and assists problem solving.

I think its a great idea. But only when done during lunch hours. Maybe a nap room? Dim lighting, comfy chairs in separate cubicles. Easy to abuse though.

It's much better to have a sleepy employee, especially one who has access to dangerous machinery that could maim or kill someone. Sorry my contract doesn't say anywhere that I can be dismissed for killing a fellow employee by accident.

Worked with a guy who used to take powernaps under his desk during lunch.

Having been at a hostel at school my paranoia of being messed with in an exposed situation like that would prevent me from doing that.

The best thing about having access to the server room.

humming white noise to drown out the snoring
constant comfortable temperature
no entry

I had a colleague who used to nap in her office. However, she would take her clothes off and nap in her underwear. Once she was surprised by the corporate services manager who got in with his key, ostensibly to do assets registering (not sure if he did it deliberately).
Funny thing is, she told him off and he apologized.

ht have been colleagues then because I also worked with someoen who did that during lunch times.

Personally I just checked out house rules and it says nothing about napping. It would be a bit tough for me to nap because I'm sitting in a section of the office with a bunch of noisy mofo's
