It seems that *all* the ISP's are getting slammed at the moment for their best of efforts. I don't see the point of this, since your oppinion doesnt exactly matter.

Vote with your wallet! Keep your weak oppinion to your self.

Exactly! Voting with your wallet is great. It makes sense, however business is never personal, its business!

I've never ever met anybody in South Africa who is actually happy with there ISP (except for the 30gb which was a farce) so the service generally is equally crap, its just the cost of the service that differs.

Telkom and I have lots in common, we are both vampires.

IMHO, ISP loyalty is a dream in SA. People start frothing at the mouth if another ISP charges R20 less than the ISP they are with and then all you hear is 'STUFF MY ISP I'M GOING WITH THE CHEAPEST OPTION'.. methinks if one built up a relationship with the people at the ISP, or perhaps had a phone/skype conversation with them, you will know where they are coming from.

Not all ISP's make a killing on their accounts - what's R30 or R50 per account profit? They still have to pay rent, salaries, company tax, VAT, buy accounts for the next month, advertise..... there are lots of hidden costs they pay to the network providers as well so it's not all as glamorous as it looks.

If people stick with their ISP instead of chopping and changing every month then perhaps the ISP could become big enough to have some bargaining power with regards to pricing. The more customers they have the less they would have to charge, ideally.

At the end of they day, 20 or 50 bucks difference between ISP's isn't that much at all. Most likely you get a few extra features for that price as well.. but 50 bucks is what, 2 Big Mac Meals? Loyalty needs to increase in SA otherwise we may see much less ISP's in SA as people will think 'stuff these guys, they dont want contracts and they leave us for someone who's R20 cheaper - whats the point?'.

Anyway.. glad I don't own an ISP.. yet.
 
not a chance mate. you can stay loyal to telkom/SAIX, and get lotsa lube while you're at it... I'm ghost.
 
I have been quite happy with SAOL and they're always friendly and respond to emails, not to mention being incredibly competitive with their pricing.
 
yeah - saol post november pricing is insane. If it sticks, I'm staying.

I would like to see age profiles of posters as I think most of the slammers refered to here be the younger guys. Don’t blame them tho because their hopes of a good deal to keep on gaming are dashed and their parents would not fork out R1000.00 per month for gaming bandwidth. Also good for isp's to get negative feedback as this put them on theor toes as well as measure the reaction from users
 
@Mad, I agree with you, but it goes way beyomd just that. The reason for people always opting for the cheaper choice is because no-one in SA (besides Telkom) makes any real money. We're being stepped on by the people above us so they can get even higher.
People in this country has to turn each cent twice!
There is a much bigger issue to address here.

I think we all agree that we are all narrow minded and selfish and only care about money.

I think we all agree that telkom is worse than us in that department.

I think we all agree that if a ISP's service is aceptable, we should develop loyalty towards them so they can grow like a bonsai tree!

I think we all agree that if you don't like our forum don't log on. (reservations by honorable peapod excluded)

Peapod read the post label, that implicated all the people on this forum criticizing the price structures, mostly young ones, is narrow minded just because they are disappointed in the pricing after a lot of hype were instigated by the ISP's themselves. If someone decided to be the defender of his ISP honour, he must take the shafting that goes with it and smile, part of the benefits of choosing sides Hehe

Best post from You Ive seen lately, I agree, thats the fun part of life. Point is if my ISP is suddenly a few R100 higher with less features WA to SAOL then loyalty starts to fade. We don't blame them but money talks. Clipse and Openweb have good plans Why can the large ISP's not do the same ? or better.

By creating this post You have proven your narrowmindedness clearly, just to defend Your ISP's honour. Everybody have his right of opinion and you yours without the need to be judged by you. Leave the defending to the ISP if he can manage, otherwise he deserves to loose clients
