About 3 months ago I said if you have some spare change buy bitcoins. So much for the doom prophets :p

Cape Town - Naspers [JSE:NPN] has initiated a $4m funding support of cryptocurrency platform BitX, based in Singapore.

Through its PayU subsidiary, Fin24 parent Naspers will invest in BitX and gain a foothold into a growing market for e-commerce.

"In Naspers we have a truly global partner with unrivalled capabilities in high growth markets, and we're very excited to work together in building out our global platform," said BitX CEO Marcus Swanepoel.

Huh?

BitX is a Bitcoin trader... I think you're confused.

No. BitX is a company, and their application allows for buying of bitcoin, an imo, heavily overvalued cryptocurrency, among other services. Buying bitcoin is not even remotely comparable to buying shares in BitX, which is what rza asked about

Bitcoin is a currency, BitX is an exchange. They don't trade, they simply match buyers and sellers and take a cut of the transaction.

BitX is a company. One the the features of their product is an exchange. But otherwise, you are correct

There are no shares available to the public to buy. This was a Series A round

I'll buy them as soon as they are out. I missed out on Capitec, Taste, and other companies, so I'm not missing out on this one.

Yep, but since I bought last year they are up 39%. With great price comes great return.

Tencent doesn't make 50% plus profits anymore, so I'm concerned about putting my money in Naspers anymore. But still a good share though. At the moment I prefer Aspen and Coronation before Naspers.

The bigger they are the harder they fall.

Coronation + Allan Gray 50/50 :P

Remember Naspers also has Multichoice in their stable, a cash cow of note.
