So I've had my NeoFlex 15GB account for a couple weeks now.

Overall I'd say I've been pretty impressed with the connection, much more than I was expecting to be.

From Day 1 my connection has averaged at about 2.5 mbit peaking at theoretical limit of 3.1 mbit and occasionally at what seems to be high traffic times just under 2 mbit.

Barring brief drops, like the previous Saturday night when International died and then local it's been pretty solid.

The last few days however, not so good. Granted I haven't really been home much, but still a drastic performance decrease.

So I call NeoTel support. Guy seems pretty helpful, proceeds to tell my they're aware of a National problem whereby NeoFlex routers aren't syncing at the correct speeds to the base stations, apparently for about the last week.

I comment that this seems like a major issue, he can't give me a definite time as to when this issue will be resolved, but apparently it started in Durban, but they are currently focusing on JHB/PTA as a start.

Irritated by the non-committal response, I ask for a reference number but am told he's going to log it, check something up and then call me back.

I get his name.

Low and behold within 5 minutes he actually calls me back with a reference number and asks me to run some speed tests.

Promised someone will update me in the next 48 hours by SMS or Email.

Anyone heard of this issue or been told it before ? Honestly if it's not sorted soon, I really have no issue returning everything and getting a refund, won't take being ripped off lying down, but being generally happy I'd prefer not to.

I'm not a million miles from Broadacres .... and Yagi currently point thats way....

Speeds have definately been down this week.... and I've had a lot of drops....

I switched down the speed of my DSL line to 384 a few weeks back.... and on average this week I'd say its out performing my Dataflex... :(

I don't get dropped, not that I know of, and my latency is usually 140 - 180ms.

I'd be interested to hear if you get the same story from the Call Centre.

You should call 'em.

Please include the RSSI in posts

On the NeoFlex you should be able to check your RSSI from the axxess manager
On the Prime use *#2368*#07# and scroll down to RSSI

We can then compare your signal in reltaion to your problems or if you having good speed tests we can see what type of RSSI is needed for the rest of us to achieve it.

I don't have Axxess Manager, on a Mac. Don't think there is one for Mac ?

NeoFlex can only check RSSi from the axxess manager.

Apparently there is no dignostic interface on the NeoFlex device so you unfortunately can't check your RSSI.

Hang on a sec, my kids use Ubuntu 9.0.4 on their PC, I'll re-setup a Virtual Windows 7 machine inside it. I already have a completed installation disk image ready to snap-in.

yeah can only check rssi thru axxessmanager on neoflex. Crappiest program ever.

I wish i could buy a better modem and hack it to connect to the neotel account. Of course i wouldnt have to do this if we jus got RUIM cards instead of the device being provisioned to the network.

Actually for the last 2 days my connection has been quite speedy. I was hitting 200kB/s at one point. Im averaging about 150kB/s. This is just surfing though , havent dloaded a big file for some time. I checked the coverage map on neotel and it appears that the signal coverage in my area has improved.

Right so my speeds tonight are shocking.

250kbps average.

I tried to download VirtualBox on the Ubuntu machine to setup Windows 7 to check RSSI but it's taking forever. Like 4kb's.

I called Neotel again now, apparently I was supposed to get a mail today about the Base Station Syncing problem, but it wasn't sent to me for some reason.
This guy didn't know about it until he checked my profile. Not really sure what to believe.

Neotel rep here contacted me for my details, someone from Corporate called me but I missed it, I returned the call after an email from him but couldn't reach him.
My upload is double my download. There is definitely a problem with sending data from the BS.

This guy told me turnaround is 24-48 hours. Let's see. At least there has been contact.
I'm giving it until Monday to be resolved, if not, it's getting packed up. If it is resolved and stuff like this continues to happen, it is definitely going back.
I don't need Neotel. I'll organise another connection.

What's the point of having a Call Centre if they can't assist with anything technical ? They're just glorified receptionists / message takers.

I've now been promised a call in the morning, and the email that was supposedly sent out.

I have some news regarding my slow speeds and now changed situation.

It irritates me to such an extent that I'm practically to f&%^ed off to post about it.

Absolutely useless. My coverage map has now changed. I've given them until Monday, they have promised to install an antennae free of charge, if signal is the case, and it can't be sorted to EXACTLY what it was, I told them I'm coming back for a full refund. They said fine.

There is apparently interference caused my Prime subscribers in my area READ: "We have given your bandwidth away to other customers because our base stations are not capable enough. And well will do the same to them when more clients sign-up."

The guy on the phone said. "I don't blame you for wanting to return it, Telkom at least delivers what they promise." HIS EXACT WORDS!
