Story up to now-

Sold car in August last year-
Natis docs were sent from MFC to buyer-
Car was never changed from my name-
suddenly speeding fines everywhere-

Buyer still has not rectified and MFC has now sent NATIS docs to me.

In my possession-

NATIS
Affadavit from commissioner of oaths stating to whom and when I sold vehicle
Agreement between buyer and myself - unfortunately no physical address for owner.
Buyers ID (Signed)
Change of ownership form (Yellow)
Vehicle Registration form (Blue)

Now what? Phoned traffic department and they are moaning about no physical address and each person has a different story re: way to go from here.

FFFUUUU I hate government departments

Took everything in this morning- Got car out of MFC's name and handed in affadavit and sales agreement to put car in new guys name back dated to the 08/08/2011.

Thought great its all done - call their call centre "No sir its in your name pending him coming to sign the blue form"

So all pissed off I run back to the licencing department "Sir its definitely in the buyers name all fines are now in his name"

Come back and call their offices again "Its definitely still in your name till he signs"

WTFFFFF

If you're serious about resolving this problem,Go to the departments head office and get help. Phoning in will only take you to stupid operators.

Where you based ? If you are in GP i can try and help you out.

When does the car's disc expire?

Just don't pay to renew ;)

Im going for this advice :P

Found out car is "in transfer"
Department has recognised I sold the vehicle and its backdated to the cars sale date - but they will not transfer vehicle without guys signature - I am sitting with new NATIS forms and licence disk.

I am guessing he cannot do anything with the car until its out my name. (Insure etc etc)

I think once you've handed in the yellow form, its not your problem anymore.

Have had this twice now. Each time I have informed the buyer that they have up to a certain date to sort out their side of things otherwise I will de-register (scrap) the car. Both times they did not do it and I scrapped the car. After giving a clear warning this is going to happen it is not necessary to talk to them any further before going ahead with it. This does not resolve the outstanding fines but stops any new ones.

I heard that the law on de-registering a car was changing so that it could never be registered again (next stop the scrapyard). Does anyone know if this has come in yet?
