Native SMS app or Google Messages

Hi guys. Do you guys use your phone's native SMS app or did you take the trouble to download Google Messages and switch instead?

My phone's native messaging app is Google messages and my phones native dialer is Google dialer.

I'm curious if anyone uses Facebook messenger as their SMS app

Google messages did not give me the option to block word phrases, therefore I got another app for the sms.

Google messages are the native one on this Doogee phone. https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.moez.QKSMS/ was also great when I mostly used FOSS software.

Yes yes yes, but most dont have phones that comes with Google Messages as the native app. Lets face it, South Africans are Samsung, Huawei and Iphone whores and neither of those comes with Google Messages as the native app....and Iphone you cant even install it if you wanted to. Nokia is great, but frankly, from what I can see they are not doing well in SA. It is a pitty, but true.

On my previous phone i had google messages. I eventually took it off because it was using about 1gb or storage on that phone, have no idea why

I use SpamHound on Android, works very well since my ex domestic decided to put my mobile number when she opened clothing accounts and I get never ending warning sms's from debt collectors.

Can set up spam filter based on keyphrase/number.

No idea why this isn't a default part of SMS apps.

Only small irritation with it is that it has a small delay when marking things as read and if you jump directly to the message it doesnt always mark it as read.

I have added the option of where Google Messages is your phone's native app if it applies to you, you are welcome to change your vote.

honestly, i do not remember what year i last sent an SMS so i therefore have to vote Native SMS

You should help the community by using the feedback option in the app to request Google to add that feature. Apparently that's what Google recommends if you'd like a feature added.
