Natural Disasters

Hmmm now i wonder why this ice is melting? Since you think your so clever bandwidth, tell me what happens when the oceans temperature rises or decreases?
Bandwidth tell me another thing, do you think this ice melting will have any impact on the oceans and if so what impact will that be?

Remember google is your friend, or you could just watch the discovery documentary on it which i highly doubt you have.

The ice is melting every SUMMER then gets nice and firm for WINTER. The amount of melting is at issue and for a few years, the amount increased then this year, the amount decreased. Next year will tell us if there is a cooling trend.

Now, huge amount of ice melting into the oceans would be a bad thing for a while (like around a few centuries) but then again, if GW is to be believed, the extent of the resultant cooling will be offset by GW so we will be ok. Just pump out more CO2 and all is well.

Why don't you tell me will happen with the oceans etc. Your lot told me that the oceans were warming. Well, that was false:

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=88520025

Then you said that the earth is getting warmer and that the seas will rise and all the coastal cities were doomed. Ok, the earth got warmer by 0.7 degrees until this year where it lost 0.7 degrees. Wow. The seas did not rise and coastal properties were not swallowed.

So tell me, dude, where is your credibility?

You see, reality is very mathematical A = B + C. What I am seeing is that all measurements that have taken place (except for that Hansen fraud) show nothing out of the ordinary.

Look at this graph:

http://www.longrangeweather.com/global_temperatures.htm

Notice those nice peaks LOOOONG before we were putting out any significant CO2?

Once again, were is the proof?

Want more, how about this one:

http://www.weathersa.co.za/Pressroom/2008/2008Mar19MaxTemp.jsp

And it goes on.

The latest excuse is La Nino. Well, how come these super scientists with their super accurate models did not predict it?

So once again, where is your credibility?

More like a religion .. don't forget, people still believe that the earth is flat:

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, did you know that there are volcanoes under the arctic?

Explain to me why i would think the oceans would get warmer if the ice melts?

Yes the ice does thin in summer but not to the extent it has done, well if the ice melts it will effect the weather system, for some reason you think the world would get hotter but infact the Europe would get way cooler. The problem is not so much so much the water rising or decrease in ocean temps which will effect the currents but it all the fresh water that will screw the currents up and change the weather dramatiically.

I'm not going to go into detail because you seem to think that humans are not destroying the planet and that the ice totally melting in summer is normal. So not much point arguing with you about it :). Although i would suggest you go and keep up with the guy who is going to paddle to the north pole in a kayak, i'm pretty sure you would know that this has never been possible, but again you will say its just the Earth warming up and its perfectly normal.

i'm pretty sure the polar bears are not going to think this is normal and i'm pretty sure the ice melting will hurt them badly.

Dude, really, look at the temperature graphs .. Why is the ice melting when it is getting colder?

And how did the world survive the other warm periods. Oh woah is me, we are all going to DIE!!!

Oh goodness, you have found out about the gulf stream and the dangers .. oooh .. but then again, you have not explained why the ice melt was less this year than last. The melting season is over dude, the numbers are in. Go look them up.

You keep ignoring the fact that the world is cooler this year by 0.7 degrees completely killing the gains over the last decade. Explain that? You completely ignore that the ice melt this year was less than last year? Explain that.

Are you a religious nut? Do you submit to the cause? Are you the next flat earther I can make fun of? Oh please tell me you are!!!

BlueCollar is no fun now that I have beaten him. He still holds on to his beliefs so tightly but the fire is just not there. We had a good run old Blue and I but all good things come to an end.

So I have an opening!! Yaay!

"Nobody has ever attempted to kayak to the pole before. In fact, it would have been impossible last year because it was frozen over," he said.
This year, for the first time, scientists predict that the North Pole could briefly be ice free and that has inspired Mr Pugh to try to find a way through.

Was it ice free last year?

Guess you fail at reading both links then.

Give me facts dude. "First time" eva? Wow, kinda like when the New York times did the same thing a few years back and had to print a retraction.

Or maybe when National Geographic predicted that the north pole would be ice free: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/06/080620-north-pole.html

Did that happen? No. Just more GW posturing.

You still have not accepted the fact that the melt is LESS this year than last.

And take a look at this nice picture, notice the fact that the North Pole is not an island: http://nsidc.org/data/seaice_index/images/daily_images/N_daily_extent_hires.png

I don't care about your Kayaker, as long as 2008 has less melt, and 2009 even less etc, then you don't need to worry so much.

I am more worried that we are NOT warming. Warming == prosperity + more food

But then, you are not bright enough to understand simple agricultural economics

Yea well we will see what happens in a few months time, So you think if the world warms up it means more food for everyone :p

Ok i'm done with this because obviously a warm world with no ice is good for agricultural reasons.

Yay more food but worse weather FTW :p

There we have it ladies & gentleman, the most un-informed, idiotic and pig headed statement of 2008.

When would you like to collect your award?

Are you aware that warming up of some of the planet's farming areas by as little as 2C would mean that crops would no longer survive, and rainfall would drop dramatically, therefore affecting the world's ability to produce enough food drastically??

But I guess the closest you've ever come to farming is reading about it on Google behind your keyboard. Pray tell, do you think that eradicating weeds and pests is done by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del?

FOR THE LOVE OF SANITY PLEASE STOP SPEWING NONSENSE!

And don't bother overloading Google in an effort to seek proof, I don't need a stupid article written by some journalist on par with your inferior intelligence and knowledge to prove my point. Now do us all a favour and go and attend your class, bunking school to peruse porn and infest internet forums with your inferior intelligence is not going to get you anywhere.

Over and out.

How about you read my links above that show the increase in CO2 and the warmer climate has increased the plant matter of Earth.

Then call me a nutter, I don't mind. Sticks, stones and glass houses.

GM, if you are a farmer, and you prefer smaller crops (colder/less CO2) to bigger crops (warmer/more CO2), then you are not doing it right.

I think you should get out from your backyard garden and look into commercial farms a bit more.

Nice one, i thought he knew what he was talking about until he said he was worried about the world getting cooler and not warmer :p.

Well GM talks about 2C warmer which would not be a problem since VERY lush areas happen to exist in areas that are 2C warmer on overage than SA, aka equatorial region. Every heard of rain forests? Somehow they don't really exist in north Europe, or north America but they do exist, where, the warm equator.

Jeez, I wonder why you are so afraid of warmth.

Now a global 2C cooling will hurt alot. Frozen crops, less rainfall (less humidity) etc. Google for what happend to crops last winter in the northern hemisphere.

I don't care whether you like me or not. I think you are all idiots, morons, and ugly buggers BUT can you PROVE me wrong.

We don't really need to prove you wrong. You think the world getting hotter is good and thats all this thread has left in it. A good joke :p

It's all very helpful that the lush areas are at the equator, but how on earth are the world's farmers going to move their crops there? The land, unfortunately, will stay just where it is, where a 2C increase in temperature without any extra rainfall will wipe them out.
