NB: MWEB NEW PRICING

I don't know why people both with MWEB! Really, they could give the packages away FREE and I wouldn't use them! It's time people realize that there is OTHER - BETTER - ISPS!

Free the people!
Free the web!

...probably the same reason the same people keep on voting the same party: Faith in false promises.

They seem to be the cheapest for low end users. Where else can you get 2mb 70GB data + line packages for R339 and 4mb 110GB data + line packages for R449?

Good cop out

Why not be a bit more customer centred and use an email address of the customer choice?

Hi

This can be done by calling our client services team and changing the primary email address on the system.
Also you are able to add forwarding to email address of your choice via my account on the MWEB email address.

But that's even more reason to automatically upgrade people from the old 2mb to the new 4mb considering they're the same price.

I have received confirmation that this will happening sometime during the course of this month.
This only applies to the standard packages.

I think so they can guarantee delivery. The customer is free to forward to any other account they want.

Nope, they try and get people to use the mweb email accounts as their primary address whichever way they can. A lot of people will not cancel their accounts simply for the sake of the email. Or even if they do cancel they will pay R30 or whatever each month to keep the address.

It's quite a dubious practice, and has nothing to do with helping the customer. Mweb as a business is not customer centric, their business building blocks are saturated with underlying models to lock the customer in. Mweb, for life.

Oh having experienced this first hand about 3 times or so with Mweb (who I used to respect, despite this failing mind you) I can say that isn't even the "best" part. To change packages (which sometimes they'll consider a downgrade and give you even more hell about) you need to RESUBMIT ALL YOUR INFORMATION AGAIN which means ID scans, proof of residence, refilling out the exact same form a new customer does, and usually waiting 1-5 days for action.

Now to be fair my OW account has been running like horse droppings this afternoon, but I'll say comparatively? I could sign up online without a single mundane scan needed, hell, it was easier than most forum registrations.
