So this seemingly useful feature plucked from Apple' "Airdrop" feature has been making it's way on Android and seems to have arrived. Although currently available to those on google play beta services - it has been reported to work just fine as expected

Seems very similar to Mi Share though already available on Xiaomi devices that also allows you to share files with folks near you wirelessly.

they need something that works fast and across a wide variety of gadgets. I feel wifi direct has potential as its relatively fast.

Airdrop is just WiFi Direct but done properly in the typical Apple way.

I’ll remember to point the droids to this thread when they say Apple doesn’t innovate etc etc bullshittery.

One of the things I miss the most when I'm using an android phone. There has to be an app for my laptop otherwise it's a little less than useful to me.
