Nedbank client data hack - All the details

Giving it free of charge apparently.

Sell or give... I think there should be legal recourse (and government backing) for fining these banks (and the rest)
who sell our info without our express permission CLEARLY given. (Based on a CLEAR and simple understanding
of the T&C's).

Two things bother me ...it took them 2wks to notify clients of the breach.Secondly Brown said they assume that all the data which Nedbank sent to Computer Facilities over time has been compromised. If it is compromise what protection/guarantee does nedbank provide if that data is being used in the future for illegal purposes....probably none

According to Radware’s 2018 State of Web Application Security report, 23% of companies reported executive firings related to application attacks. US companies were more likely to say execs were let go after an incident, as were companies in the technology or financial services sectors.I dont think this will happend in SA.

In all honesty I want companies to be more upfront about the 3rd parties they pass data onto, and to also offer customers the option of not having their data passed on to 3rd parties like this...

By default they should not give data away without consent - this is just the same as having to pay a mobile service provider for getting you off a list you never asked to be on in the first place,

Since this hack, I've been contacted by Truworths for validation of an account being opened in my name. There's also been a credit application at Vodacom on the same day. I can't 100% say this was the cause but the timing is just too coincidental. I asked Truworths to flag the application. Emailed Vodascum as well because their number keeps cutting off. Thankfully I could check all this on Transunion. Reported to the SAFPS as well. Now I have to go through the whole affidavit process. F#$*king annoying !
