yo people,

where can i get a decoder quick and cheap?
Game and Makro want R599 but they give me installation and the dish... I just want the decoder.
my one is giving a 8118 error :(
Do I need to buy a smart card also, or can i just use my current one in the new decoder?

damn... what a ripoff.
Cos I'm sure an installer's rate would be around R300 an hour (bearing in mind that he has to travel to the client), and it must take about an hour to install.
and the dish is like R100, i'm sure

dish is prob around R200 and yes install is around R300 at least for a point, but thats what they do to get subscriptions.

when i bought the normal decoder just under a year ago if i recall it was R500 and the promo was on for like R550 or R599

wont they swop it out at multichoice?

also how old is your current unit? no warranty left?

uhm just take your decoder to multichoice...
my pvr was 2 years old....took it back...paid R350 and got a brand new one.

it was broken of course.

I bought from HiFi Corp 2 weeks ago for 499.99. Saw later that House & Home had for 20 cheaper.
Both came with installation. I took the opportunity to instal a dish at my daughters place.

Hirschs had without installation but dearer, go figure!

Multichoice obviously subsidize the installations.

Really? They gave you a brand new R1500 decoder for R350? You sure it wasn't refurbished with a 3 month old guarantee? :p

Multichoice will swap it out for R350 iirc.

They will. With a refurbished decoder with a 3 month guarantee. An extra R150 gets you a brand new one with a 12 month guarantee.
