Hi Guys,

I have been running my AMD 3500+ to stream video to my PS3, but this cannot handle encoding 1080p. I hear if I get a C2D system I shouldn't have a problem. The machine will also be used to manage files (downloads and other things). I am looking at getting the following, please let me know if there is anything i should consider changing:

INTEL® "Classic Series" "Noble Town" G43 - Socket LGA775 @ FSB1333
C2D E7400
2 x Transcend® JetRam™ High-Performance 2GB DDR3-1333
GIGABYTE® ODIN 585W
Random Chassis since its going to sit somewhere on the network

I already have some brand new hdd's which i will put in.

Maybe get a cheap ATI HD graphics card.

I use one on my setup since it can send sound and picture to my LCD tv through an HD cable.

Rather get like 4550. The card will do the encoding.

Can't the c2d do the encoding? I do have a budget limit of 4000 and that build costs 3700 from rectron without a dvd writer, so its going to end up reaching 4k.

Total : R3762 + (R100 shipping)

As far as I can tell the Motherboard you want to get doesn't support DDR3 Ram so getting DDR3 Ram will be a waste of money and it wont work.

If your buying from rectron you should be able to source those products for less than R3800 other wise have a look on www.sybaritic.co.za or www.prophecy.co.za

R283 for a DVD rom.
