Hi all

Our 17 year old LG frontloader bit the dust. Looking for a new one.

Any recommendations for one with some smarts? That can connect to Home Assistant?

I'm willing to spend a bit but should be reasonable. Don't need a drier. Our current one is 7.5kg so should be similar or bigger.

Have a Bosch dishwasher which works quite well. I've had at least one family member tell me not to buy LG but no substantial reason mentioned.

What's the advantage of a connected washing machine? Presumably you still have to load and unload it manually?

We have a "dumb" Serie 6 that works great.

Also have a bosch, though a series 4. Works as good as one could want. The most smart it has, that wife use, is to schedule when a wash should be finished. That allows wife to have it fit her plans or schedule etc. No need to be connected for that.

Maybe it's because we run ours off rainwater and a pump but it seems to run off windows time and is never finished when it's supposed to.

Wife says, for us, that only happen when the machine detect there is still extra soap left after the normal rinse, then it adds additional rinses automatically to get rid of this extra soap. Is it that or yours just do it every time?

It seems to be every time but that's something to look into. I'll try less detergent next time.

Bosch Series 6 with the steam assist. I think the Series 4 also has the steam thing.

You not knowing that, reminds me of a time we didn't know about child lock. We found out after the machine input just didn't seem to work. Frustrating weekend, but after wife downloaded the manual, we realized what happened...

I'm not sure that's the problem - I checked 15 minutes in and the timer had gone from 1:01 to 1:03...

Can run when there is excess solar or load-shedding is away. Some automation can help

OP look at the Bosch machines.

Fair enough - we don't have solar (or loadshedding) so it's not something I've considered. I do know the machine picks up where it left off after power is restored which is handy.

Bosch it is :)

Honestly I was thinking of getting a bosch - the number of people in the thread confirming it makes me happy (even if that's the only reply in the post).

Smart or not.... That's where I'm hoping somebody tells me Yay or nay. Only reason why I'd even consider is because the things tend to last 15 years - so if there is some great advantage of having a wifi connected one I don't want to miss out for 15 years. If not cool, you save me a couple of thousand.

Does anybody have one that has i-Dos? The automatic detergent dosing feature?
