Okay, I'm in the market for a printer. Nothing fancy but needs to be a 3-in-1 (The more into 1 the better:wtf:).

Price range at most is R500.

Help please.

Look at the HP 1050A All-in-One it retails for around R500. But if u willing to spend around R200 more I would recommend the HP 2050 All-in-One printer (retails for around R700), as the cartridge prices are not badly priced.

R511.86 is a very good price. I paid R699 for mine.

HP CQ198C 1050A - 1050 SERIES - PRINT-SCAN-COPY R495

Thanks guys, now for the 'future affordability' question.

I know refills are always expensive, so which printer brand (eg. HP, Canon,Lexmark , etc) is the best value for money ink refills?

Once I know the above, I can make a choice on which printer to buy.

Maybe give inky shop a call. Ask them about makes, prices and yields.

I personally ended up buying a more expensive printer that can take a high yield cartridge.
The cheap printers almost never have high yield cartridges.

That first cheapie i had could not take generic or refilled cartridges.

Though there are exceptions....

Lexmark
samsung
canon
hp
(most well known brands)

The order in which cartridges are most difficult to get remans or refills.

Then also remember that cartridges are not available in the cheaper formats for a while after they are first made.

I see the cheapest Lexmark is the

LEXMARK X2670 - PRINT-SCAN-COPY R620

FYI the most economical printers are these

LEXMARK PRO805 PRESTIGE PRINT-SCAN-COPY-FAX R2415.66
(It can take the Lexmark #105XL - 14N0822 black ink , high-yield cartridge that cost a mere R60)

LEXMARK PRO905 PLATINUM PRINT-SCAN-COPY-FAX R2834
(It can take the Lexmark #105XL - 14N0822 black ink , high-yield cartridge that cost a mere R60)

HP CM750A OFFICEJET PRO 8600 PLUS ( N911G ) E-ALL-IN-ONE - PRINT-SCAN-COPY-FAX-WEB R3020
Can take a very high yield cartridge that cost R200 or so.

A nice Epson has launced also for about R2668.1 Epson-WorkForce-Pro-WP-4535-DW

This one can take XXL cartridges that can print 3400 pages.

Compare that with the cheaper printers which cartridges cost about the same but only have a yield of 500 pages or so.

These inkprinters are more economical then most laser printers

When you set above printers on Black and white mode (draft) you print a hell of a lot of documents.

Noooo

lexmark is best to stay away from.....

Epson was not mentioned. their generic cartridges are cheap but getting a full major service done.... needs to be reset by partserve(their ink models I have had contact with...)

Lexmark has created a chip for quite a few of their cartridges.

= you can't fill it or reset as it will still say empty and give you .|..

Don't really have the budget to think long term i.e. something more the R500.
Just need something to print / scan / copy the random documents.

So I'm gonna go with HP.
