Hello All

I am looking to buy a Laptop for R5000-R9000.
It needs to have a 17" screen or bigger.
Needs to have "higher" end RAM and Proccessing.

This Laptop will be used only for "windows" work thus it must be geared towards that.

Any advice?

Thank you in advance.

I will buy another 2gig ram as it comes with 4gb.

I can get it for R7,147.80 incl.

Thoughts?

Why 17" screen? With current specials at IC I wouldn't look any further. By example last deal: Lenovo 15.6" Z670 R5999. Similar performance, for a price difference buy hudge monitor with better resolution and performance.

If you plan on gaming get the first one that was posted in this thread. MUCH better gfx card.

It is for my aunt. She wants a big screen, and I doubt she will enjoy having to plug the monitor in everytime.

I can never understand the logic of people buying different sized memory modules when DDR is designed to run in dual-channel, triple-channel, or quad-channel, depending on your platform. Two different-sized memory modules automatically run you at single-channel.

+1 17" is nice for people who are getting on in years.

Then a 4, 5 k laptop will do fine, 9k is if you want to use it to play games and do heavy processing work.

Dell Studio 1749 17.3" Notebook Computer (S1749-i5450-BLACK) - Black - R 8,309.00

+Notebook bag: Targus Trademark CNXL1 Carry Bag for 17" Notebook - Black

Nice find, more than enough for her.
