Good day:

Kindly help me decide on which model to go for, price range from R100000 to R140000.
It must be in automatic, since it is my mom driving it.

I have been browsing around, so far models on my list are:
Kia Picanto 1.2 EX Auto R124995
VW Polo Vivo 1.4 Tiptronic R140965
hyundai I10 1.2 GLS AUTOMATIC R119900

If there any other good model i miss, add to it please.

Personally I really love the new kia look and equipment comes with:love:, compare to the vivo, were vivo comes with no sound system, no alloy, and also more petrol consuming, however, does the 6 gear tiptronic can make it win?

I dont know much about the I10, look less attractive then kia, but does it have any good compare to other?

advice please? and when I do buy the new car, what to look out for? never bought new car before.

I was going to suggest a Glock .40 calibre, but then I read your post...

My partner has the Hyundai i20, and the way she changes gears, I should have bought her the auto model. They are great value cars ..

any local made ak-47? lol, sorry if that miss lead everyone

Both I10 and picanto got 4 gears only, is that gonna be bad?
dont think tiptronic make any better, correct me if im wrong

I would say i10. My partner has the facelift Hyundai i10 1.2 GLS Auto (her second i10 auto)... The old one was 4-speed, but the new one is actually 5-speed. Huge improvement. I see they have it wrong on the website, but it's correct on the PDF brochure.

Thanks for that information, that just add a whole lot of advantage to the car

I am pretty sure my GF's picanto is a 5 speed

seems like i really need to phone both make to find out what is the TRUE gear number are.

But i am pretty sure on the web both brand labeled 4 speed automatic gearbox and the only 5 gear for picanto is the MT not AT.

Let us know. I've only driven her new car once. Didn't really check the gears.

Wheels24 said 5 speed and the PDF specs say 5 speed, so I assumed the website must be wrong (it even says 4 speed manual, which is definitely wrong). She also said it was revving lower than the old one at highway cruising speed, but this might be because she now has the marginally bigger engine.

once i got result, will post here.

OKay~ Kia just phoned me, and they comfirmed its 4 speed for AT and 5 speed for MT, just like what the web labeled(as well as the brochure )

hyundai is busy finding out from the head of department

I can't understand why people buy brand new and spend R120,000 on a miniscule car like a Hyundai i10 when you could buy a bigger, better, safer car under a year old for the same price that has a motorplan if anything goes wrong. Unless you are rich and can afford to blow money.

it is true that you can find a little bit better car in 2nd hand, like maybe honda jazz or suzuki swift, vw polo and come with leftover motor plan too.

But i still believe it depend on how you think, like, if i have R120000, and i can but the car that is more or less the same performance but better looking and better equipped, why not go for the new one?

I have been stuck on that question too for long, personally I dont like jazz caz of the look and the CVT transmittion, but it does give me more power.
I think if my mom is going for MT then i would go for 2nd market, since there is plenty of option, but AT dont have much market yet in SA, 2nd hand have not much choice, that is why I been looking at new fresh smell of car.

In addition, the car often have new technology used, like the 1.25 liter engine, it can perform as good as the old 1.4 engine, equipment as well, now radio comes will Bluetooth and usb, with mp3 compatible, so you dont need to worry about the whole audio thing.

I know what you are saying but usually a 2010 model and 2011 model car is identical unless of course it is an entirely new shape or facelift model.

Just shop around carefully. As soon as you drive that brand new car out of the dealership you lose 10% of the vehicles value or more simply because it is no longer new.

For example I bought my car 6 months old with 13,000km on the clock in mint condition and saved over R40,000 off the price of a new car that looked identical with the same specs. I still haven't paid for a service thanks to the service plan which still had 4.5 years and 47000km left on it.

Have a look on autotrader and see what you can find. You might find a sweet deal and an 'almost new' better, safer car.
