Looking to upgrade cpu/mobo and ram
found a deal that looks quite good //www.evetech.co.za/PC-Hardware/intel-core-i5-budget-gaming-upgrade-kit-182.aspx don't want to spend any more than that as R5800 is already pushing it for me.
Would like to know what you guys think about this and if you know of any better deals? also want to know if now is a good time to upgrade or is there any new hardware coming out in the next ~3 months that I should rather wait for?
Thanks :)

What is your current PC spec?
We can't judge if it's a 775 Socket or if it's DDR2 RAM etc.
Are you wanting it to be a Office PC Type or Gaming PC Type?

Currently I'm using a laptop as my pc got hit by lightning a few years ago and all that's left is a good power supply and a ATI Radeon HD 5970 so i guess the title "upgrade" is a bit misleading haha.
I will be using it for both gaming and work.

You never answered the actual question.

I did. My current pc spec is non-existent as everything was killed by lightning a few years ago => it was a old pc.

DDR4 mobos are out,I might be selling my current mobo, cpu and 8gigs of ram.

How do you know that, did you test each component. With lightning I've see mostly only the MB going while the rest of the stuff is usually fine.

seriously just pretend I never said I owned a pc.I think you are missing my point or questions entirely.

So basically you need a new PC entirely. Don't worry, I read what you said unlike the others ;)

What PSU do you have and are you sure it didn't get fried?

Do you want to overclock? How many SATA ports do you need?

If you don't need many sata ports and won't overclock, you can get a cheap H chipset motherboard for R900-R1100
CPU: i5 4690K is the same price as the 4690 on wootware, so no point arguing K versus non-K there: R2999
RAM: 8gb G.Skill for R1199
Total (from wootware): R5100-R5300 excluding delivery (they're usually cheap to deliver from anyway). So that's around R500-R700 cheaper but no option to overclock

You might be able to save a little bit checking Rebeltech, but if any it will be about R100 at most.

If you do want the ability to OC, then you're looking more in the price range of R1600+ for motherboard, and aftermarket cooler, etc so then the Evetech combo is a bit more appealing for price (works out almost the same)

The 5970 is still good even by today's standards, so if it works there's no need to upgrade (it's in the same bracket as a 7870 or 6970 if I remember correctly), so then you would just need a power supply (which you may or may not have in working condition ;))

You read him wrong, he has nothing contrarary to the first line. Even the chassis got melted.
