So I want to get a HD tv, but I dont have a lot of cash.
What is the cheapest anyone has seen a 720p HD Tv for?
Size isnt an issue, but Ideally 22" or bigger.
My Budget Limit is R4000-R5000.
Am I insane to hope for something in this range??
Does anyone have thoughts on Sinotech?

And lastly would there be a massive difference between a 720p HD tv
and a regular 74cm CRT??

Ps I am planning on using it for a PS3 and to watch regular telly.

Thanks

For games the 720p will be a noticeable improvement. Regular TV probably won't look better or worse on the size screen you're considering.

You can get a Samsung 22" screen for around R3500. I've never used one, but it seems to be highly regarded. It's the 226BW. Of course this is just a monitor so you'll need a tuner for TV.

I think I saw that same special, I think it's Hi-Fi corp have a 30" or 32" 720p Sinotec for about R5800.

The arguement is . . . What friggin argument?, if that's your budget, that's your bidget ;)

Apparently you can get a reasonalbe Mecer 32" TV for about R6000 as well, although I haven't seen it advertised for a bit.

Well a normal monitor is HD so I guess you can get them real cheap... Cheapest actual TV though is about R7000

You may be able to find a monitor at that price. Sinotech is getting good reviews at the moment as well

For gaming hell yeah..

Just remember that the PS3 cannot connect directly to all monitors. I don't know all the details but it only works with a special cable on certain monitors...

So if I get a monitor that has a res of 1280x1050 then it supports 720p?
And if I get a monitor that has a tv tuner then Il be able to watch tv right?
Anyone knoe the quality of the tv signal?

Dude I don't even know what HDCP even means :)...

I just thought it was something that needed to be mentioned before he goes and spends all his money on a monitor that doesn't work....

Abev, uh, a monitor with a TV tuner is called a television . . . .

I would seriously suggest you don't try running a PS3 through a monitor, rather save a bit longer and get a 32" LCD TV, You can get them from R6k and when it comes to console gaming, size counts a lot.

It all depends how far away you sit.
