Hi,

Currently at home I have a Mega 105WR Router provided by Telkom.

The problem I have is that every hour or so it appears that the line gets "clogged" and the internet will only work again if I restart the router by logging into it and restarting it through the interface.

I was wondering if anybody has a solution for this? So that i dont have to reset the router 5 times or more a day :(

Is there a program that you could set up that would automatically do this?

Dunno what OS that router uses but it might be possible to setup a script to telnet into the router at set times/intervals you can call via a cron job etc.

Done this with VBS and a task scheduler job

RW: check if the router can be connected to via SSH/Telnet on port 22/23

Sounds like a faulty piece of hardware you have there. Try another router.

How about putting the router on a digital timer plug and turn it off and on once an hour? Or if you leave your pc on you could record a script in Autohotkey that you could set on a loop to run once an hour.

imo neither of those are the best solution tho, you need to figure out why the router stops working once an hour. Honestly it does seem like the router is poked in one way or another.
If it where me I would bin that one and get a new one.

Basically i has been doing it for awhile. Same thing used to happen with billion 400g.

Even tho our line is 4mb we are so far from the exchange that telkom at one point wanted to drop us to 1mb. Hell no!

I still get 250 - 320kbs when downloading from websites and 200 - 260 off peak on torrents. SO i didnt want to downgrade. So I settled for having to reset router.

I had a similar problem with my Netgear router and CellC. Even though the router says that it will attempt to re-establish a connection with the tower when the signal drops out I found many times that this never happened, a router reboot always fixed it though. So I wrote a little batch file that runs permanently on my media server. It pings google every 10 minutes, if there is no reply then it sends a reboot command to the router and logs the time when this was done in a txt file. Works great.

I have the exact same problem with my 4MB line and TP Link router
