Hey everyone,

I currently have a job coming up where I need an inverter to power my PC during moments of loadshedding. Unfortunately, I cannot go with a generator or things like solar due to me renting in a complex.

I'll be using the PC for about 10 hours a day with the following specs:

- CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- Mobo: Asus Prime X570-P
- GPU: Leadtek RTX 3060
- Memory: Corsair MP400 2TB NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD
- RAM: Klevv Krass 32TB (16TB each) @ 3600mhz
- Monitor 1: DELL S2722DGM 27" 2560x1440 at 165Hz
- Monitor 2: LG LGE27UL500 27" 4K UHD 60Hz
- PS5

I reckon I roughly use about 400-450W when using a calculator to find out.

Any help for this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

PS5 can use up to 200W from my last check. 70w just sitting on the home screen.

I picked up one of these to power a Server, NVR and a large gate motor, average load is about 400Watts and it has been working fine so far. Only 5 months old though.

Unless Eskom goes belly up, 10 hours is the extreme, if you using 500w a hour x 10 hrs = 5kw, which is a lot of battery and very pricey:

That excludes the inverter.

Be realistic how long you want to be up.

500w is a lot of power. My home load excl. geyser and stove hovers between 200w and 500w for the entire house including 2 Fridges. But around 250w/300w mainly.

An inverter without solar just gives you the illusion of being superior, it can work but there are instances where you are going to fall short. There are options for portable solar options, even if you are in a complex, but you can get the inverter for now and you'll worry about solar later, probably when you start to experience the disadvantage of not having it.

I would get the 12V Geewiz kit with a lithium battery. Whatever you do don't waste your money with lead acid batteries, especially without solar. You could probably get it cheaper if you bought the things separately but if you can't assemble it just buy the whole package.

If you're not gaming or pushing the cpu and graphics card you'd more than likely just be hitting 300w.
On my system which is a 5600, Gigabyte B450 and a 3070ti I hit 490 when playing games like God of War, if I'm playing games like Galactic Civilization III it sits around 350.

I am certain he still has Eskom electricity so most of the 10hrs should be on Eskom.

But a 1440W is just a waste, just get the 720w and an extra battery if you can.
He'd be using about 65% + of that 720w so he'd be pushing it a bit?

1440watt mecer with 2x100ah be fine if you dont game on it.
This, I had one for many years, used it on my at the time Ryzen 2600, RTX 2060 super while playing Command and Conquer remaster, handled the 4 hour shedding no issue, though it just made it.

Have a similar set-up/use & renting
PC, TV, Xbox, PS5, Lights, Alarm & network:

Don't have any interruptions with load shedding, well bar coffee... have to use gas when I want coffee during Eskom's rolling black outs :D

Yup I had a similar setup from 2015 till May this year :), only changed batteries once in July of 2020 as the old ones took a heavy knock during the 2019 load shedding and our substation never coming back after.
Batteries are still being used, but now on the following inverter
They are linked in parrallel now, still holding strong during load shedding, sold them and still get good reports from them, the old Mecer went to another friend who didn't mind if it was modified or not.

Think any 12V/24V (±1Kw) inverter will work.

If he goes for 12V get 2 x 12V 100AH (Parallel)
If he goes for 24V get 2 x 12V 100AH (Series) or 1 x 24V 100Ah
and he should be fine.

Hey bud,

Drop me a pm, I can assist you there.

I do have a few of the mecer 1440w inverters with 100ah gel batteries. Had a test run on 400w and gave it a go for 3 hours before switching back to eishkom.

If also needed got some 3kva rct axpert inverters that I can do on a build if you want to look at pure sine wave.

Have it delivered to you in 3 - 4 days

Those Ecco/Sun inverters are slightly better in the sense that they are pure sine-wave, not as noisy and also will start screaming like a banshee at 50% :-) instead of the mecers 10/20%

I'm on LFP so kinda a none issue for me :D

(Should be a crime not to use Lithium in this day and age)
